BLW - how to?

So, when the baby is done throwing all the food on the floor and it’s all over his hands and legs, what do you guys do? End up actually feeding the baby? Clean up and call it a day? In all seriousness, he’s 10 months and doesn’t put a single thing in his mouth. I’ve been feeding him so far so I get it that it’ll take time. But how do I get him to actually pick the food and take it to his mouth?

My son likes to feed himself, but he won’t pick up food right away. When he’s in his high chair, if I try to put food up to him mouth he will refuse. So I just put a little bit of food on his plate, and I sit next to him and eat my food. After a couple minutes of staring at the food and playing with it, he will usually start feeding himself. I try not to talk to him and not distract him and just kind of let him be. If I’m holding him and I’m eating food, he always try to grab it from me, so sometimes I just feed him that way and let him eat what I’m eating.

My daughter gets a lot more excited about her food if she’s convinced I’m eating it too. Sometimes I eat or mime eating a few bites of it with exaggerated zeal then hand it to her directly and she puts it in her mouth immediately

It takes time but he will get there! Also, it seems silly but the most crucial thing to remember is that babies learn by watching so make sure he has opportunities to really watch you while you eat!
