How often are you changing baby in the night?

We change and feed around midnight and of course in morning but at the 3/4am feed I feel like changing him will now wake him too much when he just goes back down if I don’t. Obviously would for a 💩 but at 5/6 weeks are you all still changing with the 3/4am feed or letting them crack on and go back to sleep without? I can’t remember what to do from last time

Mine is 6 weeks, and I change him whenever he wakes up during the night, before the feed and then he falls asleep with a clean nappy.

Every feed even the 3am feed 😩 but rather that than peeing through x

I just change her if she is still fussy after a feed or of course if a poo!

If my LO is sleepy and there’s no poo I let her sleep - just feel the nappy and if you think it’s too heavy and could leak then change it!

We put ours down around 8-9pm and he’s asleep until 3-5am but when we get him up we change first then feed. We’d find that he might leak through if he’s very wet and left for longer.

He goes to sleep around 9pm, I don’t change at the first feed around midnight/1am but do at the 3am-ish feed, as I can also try and get some wind/poop out of him with bicycle legs, supported squats, massages etc before he has his uncomfy hour at 5am! I used to change at every feed in the night but it just feels unnecessary when he’s gone back to sleep, wakes him up and prolongs everything!

At the minute I am. I don't think the size 2 nappies are holding well enough so if I didn't change her I'd just be waking up to a load of work.

My boy is 6 week and only changing if he’s pooed now unless he’s really unsettled and then might try a change regardless. The nappies are so absorbent and they are designed to go 12 hours. Some babies (not mine) even sleep long stretches from now so they are designed to go that long. It’s also good for them to get used to wearing a nappy for longer as when they do start sleeping longer they won’t be as bothered by it. And as the circadian rhythm develops and they take less volume at night they don’t go as much and that’s also why they tend to poo morning the day compared to the start when it was anytime. Also for reference have a 21 month old toddler, can’t remember when we stopped changing her as a newborn but haven’t changed her at night unless she poos since she was a newborn so that’s given me confidence not to worry about wet nappies at night.

Each time he wakes up x

Thanks all! Bit of a mixed bag. We have had a few leaks but both times on sub 3 hour nappies so bad luck/no frills. I think max i’d leave at this age is 6 hours (no poo) but I guess will have to play it by ear still

My LO sleeps from 12:30am-6am ish so she doesn’t get a nappy change at “night” and she seems fine, no rash and she has only leaked once x
