My son does this, yesterday was actually the first time he like was interested and we’ve been introducing since 4m. I think since it was something he actually liked he understood me feeding him more because before he was doing the same thing. He liked Greek yogurt and strawberries so it wasn’t necessarily sweet.
it’s okay if he plays with it, he will be interested in eating it eventually. before 1 he should still be getting all his necessary nutrients through milk anyways so try not to worry.
@Hollie another vote for the sweet potato and falafel pouch. Fed my little one that for lunch yesterday and he loved it, I was so surprised.
Some babies just want to do it themselves. My niece was not taking to spoon feeding at all, as soon as they started giving her finger food, she loved it. I've done blw with my son and this baby, we only spoon feed things like weetabix and yoghurt, the rest I just serve up and let her go for it
Our LO was the same out trick is butter He loves anything with a bit of butter on it Also if it's a new food I let him watch me eat it-fully put it on his tray and lift it like he would and take a bite, then offer him a couple of bites out of my hand i.e with some smashed berries Once he gets the idea that this is food and I've shown him how to eat it he helps himself Everything is new to them! And the majority of the time we're trying to keep things out of their mouths so I've found I really need to show him when something is food!
Also some of the pouches are just a bit rank If my LO won't take the pouch I give It a taste and I get why! We've been trying the Heinz yogurt ones as there in the baby event in b&m and our LO seems to like them & they've live cultures
This was my baby, but I persevered - and I gave her some of the Ella pouches, and she will now open her mouth to the spoon for them. It’s not my ideal, not what I planned, but I think the flavours are maybe what babies like. She especially likes the falafel and sweet potato one. I tried it, and it’s surprisingly strong in flavour, with cumin, coriander etc. So I wonder if the purées I made were all just too dull…Going to try adding more spices etc.
