Owlet and radiation

Okay so I ah e gone down this rabbit hole of googling owlet and emf levels and now I’m panicking 😱 I’m worried I’m causing my little girl harm by using an owlet sock. She’s one so maybe I should stop using it? Just petrified of SUDC.

either way the owlet doesn’t prevent sudc/sids. if you have your phone right next to her technically you’re exposing her to emf so, it’s hard to avoid. don’t panic, she’ll be okay

SIDS will happen even if they aren’t wearing it. The reason it’s called Sid’s is because it’s so sudden. Everything gives off some type of radiation unless you live in the forest off grid but then you have UV radiation to

@Shynel I know but it’s more that having that warning I think 🤔 and it’s the fact that it comes in contact with her skin. I know I’m probably overreacting but she’s my first and I don’t want any harm to come to her in the long time.

I used an owlet sock with my daughter and she's fine 🤷🏽‍♀️ chances of SIDS are very small once they hit a year old so if you want to discontinue use of the sock I don't see why you shouldn't, however, if it gives you peace of mind it's not going to hurt your little one to keep using it.

The sun will do more harm then the owlet

There's more radiation in the environment than is given off by a device like this. You're exposed to it constantly, every day, and so is baby. That said, owlets are not medical monitors anyway. Most pediatric doctors and nurses will advise against them. They feed into the anxiety of already nervous mothers, and you could miss a true emergency by misinterpreting the readings or getting a false reading. SIDS and SUDC are vanishingly rare, and just not worth the anxiety.

The best way to try and prevent SIDs is follow safe sleep advice. However, she is 1 and it’s a very low possibility. It’s not needed now though radiation risk is not a worry but i don’t think it is reducing anxiety for you x

@Melissa agree with everything you have said! SUDC cannot currently be predicted or prevented. Certainly not by an Owlet sock I'm afraid. If you're concerned about the risks of radiation (although using an Owlet is not significant exposure) and it's stressing you out, then stop using it.
