11 week old - fussiness

Hi all - my LO turned 11 weeks this week and has become extremely fussy when it comes to feeding. She’s formula fed and when I try to feed she just messes around with bottle or starts crying. Once I stop trying to feed her she stops crying and is happy to just play. She’s fine within herself but could go hours without feeding if I didn’t try to get some milk into her.

Sorry to hear you are going through this. My experience was very similar however ours was due to our Bub getting oral thrush. He became completely deterred from feeding, to the point where we almost had to admit to hospital for dehydration. The thrush was at the back of his tongue so was really difficult for us to spot, hence why we didn’t know. Once we went to the GP and had this confirmed we treated him with oral gel (Decozol). This went on and off for a few weeks and certainly impacted his feeding and weight gain. Hopefully that’s not the case for you.

My boy is like that it was digestion issues for him! is baby having any issues going number 2 or is she arching her back? I would try to give her some probiotic drops for digestion health but definitely also see a GP it could also be but my nurse told me try the drops and ever since he has been a-lot better with feeding and he is comfortable i give Nan probiotic drops, also watch her position while eating as the lower they lay the more likely they are to swallow and trap air in their bellies

I am going through exactly the same thing atm... it's just this week bub has started being extremely fussy when feeding and only drinking smaller amounts than normal. I'm confused as to what's going on and what to do!

@Rachel are you formula feeding? Turned out the teat on the bottle needed changing - I went up to the next one and LO has been fine since.

Yeah formula, we have gone up a teat size but she's still not drinking quite as much

@Rachel I’ve pushed the time out a bit in between feeds which has made her drink more also. I was feeding 2.5 - 3 hours. Now pushing it to 4 hours unless LO is wanting it sooner.
