Gestational diabetes test

That drink is disgusting! I just gulped it down holding my breath. Hopwfilly it goes better for you next time round. I got the secone one coming up too 😩

I had mine today and thankfully didn't find it too bad. Sat next to an open window so that I didn't feel so sick - think it made a difference. Now to wait for results.

I had mine yesterday. I thought it was alright to be fair. The drink was just like a flat weak thicker version of lemonade...... Was just glad when I could go and eat 🤣

I had mine after being worried about being sick as I’m awful at drinking stuff if I don’t like it🤣 I was told I had to kneck it at the appointment but argued my point and I was able to drink in 5 minutes - I did small gulps rather than all in one go. Straight after I necked the small cup of water they give you and then throughout had sips of water. I think if you start to feel sick/hot definitely stand up as I found this helped. I also asked for a fan and one was given to me x Wishing you luck on the next one🤞🏼

@Louise definitely gonna try fresh air with round two! i think being sat in a closed off room didn’t help at all

@Kaylee awww i’m so glad you found it okay!! the one i got tasted like pure thick syrup 😂 i found it okay to drink but spent 90 minutes fighting off vomiting before eventually losing it!! lol

just out of curiosity as I have mine coming up do you have to drink the entire drink or just some of it?

I’ve declined the test as couldn’t think of anything worse I’d definitely throw up too haha! Good luck 🤞🏻

@Georgina i didn’t even know you could decline?! did you get any push back?? - i’m so convinced that I’ll throw up again I feel like it’s pointless to fast again and go through it again

@Sham you have to drink the whole thing but it was like half a cup full.... I don't know what it's like in other places but I'm in Southampton... X

@Sham the whole damn thing, i tried to leave 10mls and the nurse came back and made me finish it - had flashbacks to being force fed as a child 😂😂 the drink wasn’t great but it’s over quickly!

I quite liked it 🙈😅 my fasting blood sugar was just below the cut off point so I hope I pass, had mine last week.

@Claire have you not got your results yet? I was told they would be in the app next day. Had mine today.

Got mine in two weeks, this doesn’t sound great. Does the drink have a flavour?

@Kellyn from my understanding different hospitals have slightly different variations, mine wasn’t flavoured as such and just tasted like pure syrup - but heard people saying theirs was like a flat lemonade etc

No one can make you do anything you don’t want to do! My midwife just asked me why gave my reasons just stood my ground

I’ve got my 2nd GTT next week, I passed my first (son was 9lbs born which is why I have them this pregnancy). I didn’t really have any side effects other than feeling a bit odd after an hour. Not sure if they use different drinks per trust as mine just tasted like a cheap Aldi knock off of an orange capri sun 😅 x

Hi, if anyone can help. I had my test on Tuesday, today I got a text for my appointment next week with diabetes service. My result is not updated in the NHS app. So am I diagnosed with diabetes that's why there's another appointment, is that like that?

@Louise sorry just replying, I had a midwife appointment yesterday and she said my results were reported as normal. @Sadaf have you checked badger notes, the result should be in ‘maternity record’ and under the ‘antenatal care summary’ tab.
