I swelled really really bad in my ankles and feet my bp was high for me and when I did a urine test at docs office there was protein in my urine
I went in and they said we are going to take your pressure and 15 minutes later I was getting readmitted 4 days pp and had to stay for 24 hours of observation and got put on magnesium they entire time.
You may or may not know you have it. My sister only knew because her ankles were swelling but she thought it was normal being 9 months pregnant. A blood pressure check then showed high blood pressure, with other tests showing pre-eclampsia. Sometimes people notice symptoms such as swelling, a headache, pain in ribs, or visual disturbances. Other times it’s only picked up via a blood test
I was super swelled in ankles and legs. Very high blood pressure for two weeks. After two weeks, pressure and swelling went down. They said I need to come in if I get a headache. But I never had a headache or blurred vision. Stayed in touch and checked my pressure daily.
I was showing symptoms like swollen feet and hands, which I thought were normal. I also noticed dots in my eyes, but I dismissed it because I’ve had them before. My baby also had reduced movements, so I decided to go to the hospital for a check-up. Turns out, I had protein in my urine and high blood pressure, and they diagnosed me with preeclampsia. I ended up having an emergency c-section and my baby’s heart rate started dropping during the surgery. I got to the hospital just in time. If you’re noticing any signs, even if they seem small or normal, it’s always best to get checked out! Trust your instincts and don’t hesitate to go to the hospital.
I was 23-24 weeks pregnant, had swelling in my ankles first, then hands and face. I gained 10lbs in a week from fluid retention and went to the doctor where they sent me to the hospital for a blood test. I was admitted the same day, 3 weeks later my daughter was born by emergency c-section. She was 1lb 4oz but otherwise very healthy and is now 18 months old, happy and healthy. My main noticeable symptoms was the fluid retention but had high blood pressure and my kidneys started failing while I was in hospital. Even if you think it’s nothing, please get yourself checked out. I was told I’d go downhill quickly so it’s always best to have a doctor on hand.
From my understanding either you can present with symptoms or you won’t. I had all the symptoms a couple weeks before I delivered but it wasn’t diagnosed till afterwards when I went back because I knew something was off and sure enough it was pre eclampsia. Headaches, blurry vision, extreme swelling and super high blood pressure.
