Gallbladder Issues

Has anyone else had gallbladder issues due to pregnancy? My issues started about eight months of pregnancy and three months postpartum I had to get my gallbladder removed and all the nurses and doctors. I’ve spoken to nurses and doctors and lots of mamas have been going to the hospital for gallbladder issues and needing it removed after pregnancy. Has anyone else encounteredthis? I wonder why this is and what in pregnancy could be the cause of it.

Yes!!! I've had the exact same problem, it started a few weeks postpartum and flares up every few weeks. I'm so sorry you've had to go through a gallbladder surgery only three months postpartum!!

@Beth yes! My flares started randomly and would come and go randomly about once a month but around 2 months pp the pain got worse and it was more frequent. I’m sorry you’re going through this, I wouldn’t wish the pain on my enemy!

Ah! Mine are currently one or two a month, but the pain!! It's horrific, it makes me throw up just because of how painful it is. When I googled it seems to be losing weight quickly after pregnancy, or a build up of bile due to pressure from the uterus pressing on the gallbladder during pregnancy, I had a 90 percentile baby and huge placenta because of GD so i'm assuming that could be my issue! So glad you don't have to experience it anymore, but a surgery so soon after having your LO had to have been so hard for you, well done for getting through that!

Yes, mine started postpartum. It’s very common due to the hormonal changes or can be rapid weight in post postpartum too. I really wanted to try avoid surgery but the attacks are horrendous that I’m going to discuss my options with a specialist x
