Centrelink parenting payments

Hi girls just a quick question regarding the parenting payment from Centrelink I was on the phone on hold just to ask some questions for almost 2 hours and got cut off so I’m gonna try my luck here 😩 I’m currently on parental leave from Centrelink but will be returning back to work in a few weeks to do 3 days a week. My question is do you have to apply for the parenting payments from them aswell as the tax benefit or does that automatically get applied once maternity leave is over? Can I apply whilst im on parental leave ? Also what payments will I be eligible for as part time with a full time partner, as I’ve done the income test for parenting payment & it’s saying I will be getting only a few dollars from them 😅 Centrelink is very confusing and I don’t wanna call up again, the website doesn’t really answer my questions either xx

Your maternity leave will stop and you will automatically roll over onto parenting payments and family tax benefits you shouldn’t have to do anything at all in regards to that. You will need to fill out an income report including yours and your partners income if you haven’t done-so already as this will determine how much family tax they’ll pay you. I’ve received it for a long time alongside working though so my advice may be outdated.. Does this answer your question? Xx

I think if you’re not a single parent and you continue working again you end up on work for the doll payments (like job seeker) even if you have a job. They exempt you from having to “look for a job”. Rather than the parent payments if that makes sense. When I started working I was on job seeker, so I had to report my job income in order to get paid from centrelink.

You have to apply for both. I was going to apply for parenting payment partnered because I was going back part time but I was not entitled due to mine and my partners pay being over the threshold. So I had to go back to work full time in Jan.

You have to make a claim. Your household income will determine what you’re entitled to from Centrelink.

^^ as above then. Ignore my comments as my info is outdated 🤍

You have to make a claim. I would do it asap.
