No but the doc said its dangerous going over 41 weeks… They told me that with my first and I had the induction scheduled for 41+3 but the night before I went into labor. Tomorrow I have an ultrasound and I’ll see how baby is doing if shes doing well I might have them push the induction until 41+3 but im definitely going in if I reach that time and theres still no progress. Has anyone ever tried reaching full 42 weeks before?
@Aylool my first was born at 41+6, I started contractions at 41+4 a few hours after a sweep, but things moved very slowly and they ended up breaking my waters at 41+5 (then eventually helping baby along with the hormone drip later that night). She had measured averagely throughout the pregnancy but obviously going 13 days past due date meant she was pretty big, and she was also poorly positioned, so she did have to be helped out with forceps and an episiotomy. If I went through it again, I would have wanted to deliver sooner than 41+6 as things might have been a bit easier with a smaller baby - but hindsight is a wonderful thing and I know many women do push out bigger babies up to (and beyond) 42 weeks. If you want to wait until later than their recommendations, you could ask for additional monitoring so you know baby is safe and healthy in there?
I had balloon and gel last time - labour lasted 4 hours from first contraction. Having the same again today though im only 37 and 6 - not what I wanted but just trying to frame that even being left like I wanted could’ve ended up in interventions and c section etc
@Aylool I’ve gone as far as 41+5. They tried to schedule me for an induction at 42 at the time and I declined. If they feel like there’s a risk above any amount of time they are obliged to offer additional monitoring, not just force you into an induction.
Why do you have to be induced? Is there a medical need?
