Around nine months, we started giving her three little meals/snacks like potatoes, or rice or beans or any type of cut up fruits or vegetables and then slowly, but surely she’s now eating her 3 meals with bottles after each
Anytime I want my daughter to eat like meat. I mush it into mashed potatoes with cut up green beans that’s a really good meal! Black bean, bush beans pinto beans noodles cut up very small. Text me anytime if you’re having trouble thinking of meals even SpaghettiOs or cut ravioli:) my daughter has always had a problem with spitting up but ever since we got her on regular food she’s done really good. And she’s never had more than 4 ounces in her bottles because she eats so much regular food and around 11 months, we switched her to regular milk. we started half formula half milk but now she’s going to be one on the 23rd and she’s fully on cow milk. And she’s doing amazing. my daughter was born a preemie she was 4 lbs. 4 oz. now she’s pushing 22 lbs
Both of my girls started purées at 4 months, then at 6 months we started one meal a day (we did breakfast), 7 months 2 meals (breakfast and dinner), 8 months 3 meals. We always offered whatever we were eating for food! If he’s still seeming hungry it’s definitely time to offer him real food, my girls first foods were very simple (bananas, eggs, avocados, etc..) Both of my girls were off of formula and switched to whole milk with meals, water offered throughout of the day by 11 months. But definitely keep in mind that every baby is different, and what works for one baby may not work for another!
We started foods at like 8 or 9 months? We keep scissors in the kitchen to make sure everything is a good size. Our kid eats basically what we eat every day
Start with 3 meals and maybe some little snacks in between. Soft foods and bite sized like Cooked veg and fruits and soft meat and pasta and rice
Thank you all for the advice, I really appreciate it. I was told by doctors that and nutritionist that he shouldn’t eat foods until 12 months, so I’ve been trying to do everything right because my son was born 6 weeks early, but for the last week I noticed my son needing to eat more often, and today he’s eaten so much more than usual, so I’m definitely gonna be trying all of this very soon! His first birthday is on the 29th of may so he would be starting to eat soon too, I just have the biggest fear of him choking! I’m also currently having trouble of my dominant hand going numb, well my fingers but if I use that hand too much I get pain in my hand and im not sure why, it’s been two weeks and I just get so scared if he starts choking I won’t be able to help him, but that may be my own fears as a mama who lost her first in pregnancy, it wasn’t a miscarriage as he was a few weeks short of 20 weeks, so everything I do with my rainbow baby has me questioning if it’s the right thing
The pediatrician and nutritionist say that because an infant's main source of food is the breastmilk/formula. That's where they get their nutrients from and water from. You don't need to offer full course meals. steam some apples to offer in the morning along with infant cereal mixed with breastmilk/formula. steamed veggies, avocado toast and eggs are my go-to for my 10 1/2 month. You can also start the 7 allergen foods (one each week at a time). My pediatrician recommended that I nurse my baby until she's full then offer BLW. Every pediatrician is different I guess. But also follow your mommy gut, if you see your baby is still hungry then offer some foods off of your plate. Just no salt or sugar and no honey yet.
Your baby can have pretty much all foods except for honey and cow’s milk (as a drink) before one. You can download the solid starts app and it tells you how the food needs to be modified before offering to baby. You can also just google this info before feeding. We give our baby pretty much anything we eat.
I was worried about chocking as well. I recommend baby led weaning, or letting him try to touch and explore the foods as much as possible. It’s SO messy but it’s game changer. We started with just giving her a banana to hold herself at 6 months. Now my daughter is 11 months old and can eat pizza crust. I also feel like once we started that her teeth came in pretty fast (she has 6). She tends to move things in her mouth and chew like we do. She will spit it out if it’s too big of a piece. The most important thing is making the experience enjoyable and trying to stay calm. If it helps, gagging is normal and actually helps protect the airway. I had water handy to help wash down the food, and would pat her back if I got nervous. Sorry you had that experience with your pediatrician! Sending positive thoughts for a better Doctor.
My baby girl eats everything we eat, just in a safe way for her. She loves fish, eggs, pancakes, pasta, chicken, potatoes, pizza, etc. In fact she used to eat everything and now that she knows more food she is getting a little bit picky (with vegetables wich she used to love), but only with some things.
My 10 month old is on 3 meals 1 snack. With about 27 ounces of breastmilk
