Ovaltine

My 1y/o is refusing to eat meat. Can I sneak some ovaltine in his milk to give him protein instead? Ty!

Does he like chicken nuggets? I wouldn't put anything in his milk he's only 1 he will get there with food

@Becky tysm for your response❤️ and we tried McDonald’s chicken nuggets the other day and he wasn’t a fan unfortunately. I think he didn’t like the hard skin texture

I was going to say try making your own with fresh chicken so easy to make, just cut up then chicken dip in whisked egg then cover in breadcrumbs, if you have a blender I just blend wholemeal bread and add some seasonings. They're delish, but I wouldn't worry too much about meat yet if your baby isn't a fan the key is to just keep offering. What things have you tried? My 3 year old isn't a fan of meat so I make chicken nuggets, that's probably the only meat she will eat aside from ham sarnie, chicken sarnie she used to like cooked gammon when she was younger but she went off it. Don't worry your little one will get there with food. Is he/she good with fruits and veg and other foods?

What about tofu (it takes in flavors very well!), lentils (even as a soup), edamame, beans, add hemp seeds to things like oatmeal, green peas... these are all ways I get protein in my 2yr old. She's not big on meat just yet and that's okay.

My little one also loves eggs have you tried eggs? Boiled, scrambles, fried, omelette? Or brocolli, full fat Greek yogurt with blended avocado and banana my little one used to love this when she was a baby

Not sure what meat you have tried but I recommend: - Apple chicken sausage - Italian chicken sausage - Pork breakfast sausage links - Shredded seasoned chicken thighs - Homemade chicken nuggets If any type of meat seems too dry for him or the texture throws him off, try mixing it with avocado oil or melted butter before serving. Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese, and eggs are also great sources of protein. When I make scrambled eggs for my daughter, I add cheese and spinach. If your son likes ketchup, mix in a little bit with his eggs too.

My daughter was a meat avoider until she was about 4. We used a lot of alternative protein sources such as beans, cheese yogurts, eggs and also vegetarian alternatives to meat she just didn't get on with meat texture.

You could but ovaltine doesn't have much protein. Try other sources of protein instead, different recipes, etc.

Hi, try some cerelac in his milk. Makes the milk thicker though. Also, beans, make it well cooked and mashed if possible. Also yogurt is fine

I wouldn’t be putting anything in milk no. It’s pretty normal for toddlers to not like meat, it can take a while for them to get used to the texture and the amount of chewing needed! But they don’t need to eat meat for protein, they can have eggs, dairy products, legumes like beans in a chilli, even broccoli has protein.

I didn’t even know they made that anymore wow. No, it’s highly processed crap. Put some bone broth in a bottle, or get a good brand of protein safe for kids, add protein in other ways like beans, try seafood, healthy fats like Greek yogurts and real butter are good…and keep trying different meats and cuts.
