Home birth

Hi all, I am hoping to opt for a home birth and am due my next midwife appointment this week (I’ll be 25 weeks) where I’m hoping will be an opportunity for me to raise this, just looking to see if anyone else has had a home birth in the Stevenage area or is also planning to. I am looking for some guidance and advice if anyone has any to give? ☺️ Also to note I want a water birth so will also need to hire a pool if anyone has any suggestions? (Pic just so my post stands out a little more! ✨) Thank you ☺️

My first could have easily been a home birth but my second was an emergency C-section and there was NO for seeing that it would be til the very moment. I was in the OR and baby out in 45 seconds flat. If I'd been at home he would be dead or a vegetable. Not worth the risk in my opinion!!

Everyone has a right to the birth they want, but there are some serious risks associated with a home birth and I can not stress enough how quickly things can go wrong. I had a wonderful birth at Lister hospital, in a pool and had amazing care from all my midwives, I highly recommend it as an option for you. Dimmed lights, quiet and listened to everything I wanted (delayed cord clamping, golden hour, breastfeeding etc). What is it about a home birth that you like?

I have to agree with both the comments above. Both my girls were born at lister and I couldn’t have had a better experience, they tried to get me to opt for a home birth with my second but I’d always feel more comfortable surrounded by everything I’d need if things didn’t go to plan. That being said, both my girls could’ve easily been born at home as my births were very straight forward and very quick. But I’m glad we were at lister and well looked after and cared for 🥰

Thanks to all for your opinions. I would love to hear from people who have or do plan to opt for a home birth too 🫶🏻
