Had my baby by emergency c section in January at QEQM. No private rooms available so was on the ward for 2 days (had baby at 1:45am Monday and was home for 6pm Tuesday). Nothing but a good experience tbh. We had privacy despite being on the ward. Staff were absolutely amazing. No complaints whatsoever
@Charlotte ah thank you! Good tip to have ready to use 🤣
@Donna Woods thank you!!
They have single rooms but you cannot pay to reserve them. Usually they give them to patients with infection or if baby goes to SCBU. I had my baby in January and I was in the bay and unfortunately I did not have a good experience post partum.
I was in a room with 6 other people and 6 other babies ,it was loud I hope next time we can try to have either a smaller amount of people or our own room , because I left 7 hours after my emergency c section because of this ...staff was amazing but it was so loud I couldn't rest up...someone left there baby to cry for hours and the dad would just pick them up and put them down again ,I just wanted to be like ...do you need help? Lol ...me and my partner was getting frustrated that they wouldnt help the baby ,even my family coming in was enough for me ...lol my mum ,my nan ...my whole family showed up ...(I love them) But that's not happening again ...next time I think we are going to keep visits private just between really close family .....I was still actively bleeding all over the bed ,when my family showed up ,and I was trying to wee at one point when I got the catheter out ...and my fricking dad comes in ...I spilled the wee everywhere 😂😂...at that point ..I was like right I have to be left alone...
And of course I wasn't left alone for abit to take it all in ...so I discharged myself home because I kept getting woken up and disturbed,it was nice that people wanted to see me and baby but I just had emergency c section under general anesthesic, I was so out of it
I've had a section at both hospitals. QEQM I had a private room, but it was Christmas day when I had baby, and the ward was empty except me and 2 other mothers. William Harvey, I was on a ward with 3 other mums. Was noisy, I got 3 hours broken sleep as all the babies kept me awake. X
I had my emergency c section on a Saturday. Didn't get a private room, but the bay i was in was basically empty most of the time I was there (except my first night when it was full). Wasn't too bad, they gave me ear plugs. My husband delt with everything so I could sleep. I was right by the window which was nice.
I had an emergency c section and got a private room afterwards for recovery, I was surprised really as I had my daughter in October 2023, when she was originally due in September which I was told is a busy time of year for babies x
I had an emergency section at QEQM and got a private room after but that was only because I had a break down in front of everyone in the main recovery room 😅
