Nursery

Thinking of putting my LG in nursery for 1 or 2 days a week (she's nearly 1). Know it will be a good few months before any nursery could take her. But was wondering about how much roughly it will be. Know there are a few 'free' hours nowadays. Does anyone's little one go nursery and get the standard free hours willing to share how much you pay? Me and my partner work full time and wouldn't be entitled to extras (i don't think) thanks 🙂

Hi firstly if you haven’t already, register for the free hours and also as you and your partner are working parents you can also get tax free child care. I’m in the process of finding a nursery for my almost 9 month old. But some of the prices I’m being told are ridiculous but it’s probably I’m looking for nurseries in li dong where I work, but I live in East Midlands. I just can’t wait for September when the 30 hours come in.

My daughter goes to nursery two days a week, 7.30-6. She’s entitled to the 15 funded hours, plus tax free childcare. My nursery split the 15 hours over the year rather than term time, so over 51 weeks it averages at about 11 funded hours a week. They aren’t free, often nurseries add a consumables cost on top (I think ours is around £14). Those two days a week, with funded hours and tax free childcare, still cost us over £400 a month with the gov topping it up by about £120. My son will also be starting end of May when he turns one so this cost will go up but I think they do a sibling discount. My friend has her daughter in nursery and they only do the funded hours term time, so although she gets the 15 hours in term time, when it’s holidays she has to pay the full price minus the TFC so her bills can fluctuate
