mucus in nappy

my little boy is 6 weeks old and has been experiencing bad reflux since he was born. he’s formula fed so yesterday we started him on milk thickener and infacol as he was also showing signs of colic. this was recommended from our family nurse/health visitor. today he has had two dirty nappies, both of which have been very watery and now i’ve noticed what seems to be mucus in his wet nappy. is this something to be of concern? could it be an allergy? is it just a side effect of the thickener or infacol? has anyone else experienced this before?

How has babies weight gain been? With reflux and then mucus nappies I would be thinking possible allergy. Does he have any other issues? Dry skin? Loads of poops or constipation? Congestion?

@Charlotte we’ve been told his weight gain is absolutely fine because i was concerned he wouldn’t be gaining as he should with him much he was vomiting. he had dry skin on his forehead but we’ve been told it’s cradle cap. his poos have seemed normal up until today. the consistency they should be and typically having 2 a day.

My boy had bad reflux and colic when he was around your son’s age. I found that the milk thickener and the Gaviscon made him extremely constipated. If it’s something you’re concerned with lovely, maybe contact the out of hours and they might want to have a look over him. Does he seem distressed, uncomfortable, appear to be more tired than usual ? Is he eating and drinking ok?
