Confused about tax free childcare
Hi, has anyone applied for tax free childcare? I tried to apply on the Gov site online to get the code so I can show it to nurseries when we visit but as I am not due to start work till September, I cannot get this code yet, is this correct? Has anyone applied for this and is it straightforward? Many thanks x

I think it’s too early, I did it the month right before we started and was quite an easy process from memory x
You can get a temporary code even for September term to give to a childcare provider if you need it to secure a place but you then need to apply again for the permanent code within 4 weeks of the term starting for the free funded hours and I think it's 4 weeks before returning to work for the tax free :) I've been on the phone about it today. I applied and they then sent me a letter to call them to get a temp code x

Probably a bit to early I would apply august, for the 30hours funding if your getting that too, my code came through same day for that, and the tax free you pay nursery through the gov website it’s not a code so you can set up and pay them when Septembers invoice comes through at the end of august 🙂 (you tell them the reference number to look out for from the gov )
