Kiddo keeps hitting

Anyone else’s kid insist on hitting and throwing things all day? I swear I spend more than half my day defending myself because he’s constantly hitting me. I’ve gone through a whole spectrum of consequences including (don’t judge me) smacking his hand after he hits me and literally nothing gets the point across. Yesterday I ended up sobbing because I’d had enough and he thought it was hilarious and kept hitting harder, hard enough to leave a mark. I’m expecting our second and I’m terrified of what he’ll do to the baby 🥺

My daughter does this and then when you yell at her, she slams her head off things. It’s terrifying. I either 1) grab her hands and squeeze them gently and say “no hit, nice hands” and then have her “pet” my leg or something to show her she has to be gentle or 2) I fake cry. Or in some cases, actually cry 😂😅 kids learn through actions and consequences so if they see us cry when they hurt us, they understand oh wait that hurts mommy I shouldn’t do that. Try and be as level headed as possible when you react because sometimes kids do things they know they aren’t supposed to do to get attention. If those two things don’t work, I would call a doctor or behavioral specialist to ask how to further handle the situation

@Shania oh gosh that sounds horrifying trying that used to work but now it just makes him angry lol. I’m a little worried about his ability to read emotions; he’s good with positive ones but when I was crying he just thought it was funny lol. Thank you for the suggestions!!
