We had this debate yesterday, we think it should be Good Friday 🤣
Wider family as in nieces and nephews - Friday Partner & I (and from next year our baby girl) - Sunday
Where I live we walk a hill for Good Friday that is a mile up a lot of people like my family walk from longer tho I walk 8 miles there including up the hill and 8 miles back and then we do an Easter egg hunt where we hide the decorated eggs and more on Easter Sunday that’s how almost everyone where I’m from does it
We would normally do Easter Sunday but here Sunday is a work day and as it’s a Muslim country it’s not a bank holiday so my husband will be at work. So we are doing it Saturday instead! 😊
My mom did Sunday for us kids so that’s what I’m doing as well
Traditionally, what we’ve started is the basket tradition during this Holy weekend (saw on IG, not my original idea). My daughter and I spend this afternoon searching for rocks, we gather them IN our Easter basket. I help her read the bible for kids and explain sin to her, as simple as I can. And maybe I write down some of those on the rocks. The rocks are heavy so I let her carry the basket a little so she feels “the weight of sin”. We cover the basket before dinner with a red cloth and leave until Sunday (the blood of the lamb). Sunday morning, once she removes the blanket, there are the gifts that come with Easter, or in our example… the gift God gave us through His sacrifice. Yes, it’s a little complex… but have been introducing bible for less than a year now, she knows Jesus & she loves bible stories, so this does help with retention. Excited for my 6 month old to get a glimpse of the experience this year.
The end of lent is Good Friday? I always thought it was Easter Sunday...
Saturday for eggs, Sunday for Easter service
Sunday for sure!! The metaphor of the eggs is like a rebirth and a chick hatching from an egg. Good Friday would be too early! But ultimately it’s just a fun tradition, so do what is fun for your family! It logically makes more sense for Sunday
Sunday. I don’t know anyone who does it on Friday. Friday is just a normal day.
@Sarah Mahan good friend commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus and Easter Sunday is the day he was resurrected
I’ve always done Easter Sunday to commemorate Jesus’ resurrection; the eggs represent new life x
