FEEDING STRUGGLES

What is your daily feeding routine with your 1 yr old? My 1 yr old is so picky that I don’t know what to feed him anymore. Eats every 3-4hrs. He only eats serenity patches, egg, rice, pasta, fruits ,drink lots of milk. Won’t eat baby cereal, veggies, potatoes nothing at all. I try many different things with him, he spit everything out, I tried less milk and he still won’t eat. Wants to eat grownup foods. Barely have any teeth. Y’all I tried. I feel like I’m failing my baby, he barely put on weights for the past few weeks . How many pounds your 1 yr old weight? Mine 19.8. it’s been weeks and still weight the same.

My son is even worse than this, will only eat pouches & noodles. Drinks 7-8 oz of milk every 3-4 hours. Spits it out or refuses all food. I offer him 3 meals a day & usually he eats a bite or 2. He only weights 20 lbs 13 oz. I put him on ripple milk for kids, it’s supposed to give them nutrients & help them gain weight& it’s working! I feel so discouraged too. We’ve done feedings therapy, talked to the pediatrician. Everything. So i feel you. 😭

@Lauryn 🥲🥲😭 what’s wrong with these babies lol. Hope it’s gonna pass by the time they are 2.

My son will mostly eat a couple bites and then nothing else so I am still breastfeeding and pumping. If it makes you feel better they stop growing so fast around this age and my son only needs to gain 1 lbs 3oz between now and his 15 month appointment to stay in the same percentile. Ask me how I know 🙃? Low percentile baby stress 😭

The funny thing is they will eat a piece of something that been sitting on the floor for 2 days but won’t eat the good foods 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😭😭😭😭🥲

Same my baby has gone down in percentile bc he won't gain weight. I've noticed he likes food he can eat by hand better. Keep offering things like the rice and pasta that are calorie dense. If you can do mac n cheese with real cheese that's protein. I've been mixing some baby food fruit into a few scoops of whole milk Greek yogurt every night for "dessert" for my son and that's been going well, he prefers to eat what I'm eating (I hate yogurt) so if I put it in the same type of bowl I eat out of he's more likely to eat it even though I'm not eating it.

You have to keep pushing, not making them eat a variety of foods is not good for them

You just have to go with the flow! My daughter was like this, barely ate, only survived on her milk. I used to think I’m doing something wrong. But now, my son, eats so happily. Every baby is different 🤷🏻‍♀️😅

ugh, I totally get it, picky eaters can be so stressful! my little one was like that too, but we just kept offering different things and tried to make it fun, like letting them play with food a bit... and honestly, they eventually started trying more stuff! as for weight, my kiddo was around 20 lbs at that age, so you're not alone, just hang in there! I actually checked the 'Heal App' for this and here's what it says: "It sounds like you're feeling quite overwhelmed, and it's understandable to be concerned about your child's eating habits and weight. For a 1-year-old, it's common for them to be picky eaters, but it's important to ensure they get a balanced diet. Since your child enjoys eggs, rice, pasta, and fruits, you might try incorporating more protein and healthy fats, like avocado or yogurt, which can be appealing and nutritious. You could also try offering small, soft pieces of the foods you eat, as they may be more interested in "grown-up" foods.

I was also worried until i heard from a pediatrician that 1-2 yr old eat less as compared to what they used to eat before

My baby was like that before and I gave her Tofu!! She loved it. Now she can eat most of the food but still her favorite is Tofu.

Here is a resource with food and serving size suggestions! https://healthyeatingresearch.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/What-to-feed-12-24-month-olds.pdf I also have a lower weight baby and you can research higher calorie foods for example Avacado and nut butters are packed with nutrients and healthy fats. My son loves peanut butter!

So my 1 year old has five teeth she eats literally anything (pancakes waffles eggs hash browns eggs hamburgers) anything I eat she eats basically without eating ribs or steak. She will eat meat off the ribs if soft enough she eats things like Mac and cheese any and all fruits and veggies I tend to steam all the veggies so they are at least soft and able to be eaten with gums

My 1 year she weighs 18.3 pounds and my 2 year old only weighs 25 pounds but they eat allot of food and snack allot but they are also super active. Like run around crazy all day and have more energy than the energizer bunny🤣
