Quorn

Hi girls Would you recommend offering quorn products to your baby? I have a 11 month old, almost 1 year, she never had those meat substitutes but was wondering if it was ok to offer her as we (parents) eat regularly. Thanks

I have given mine Quorn mince (for spag Bol) which he loves and am going to introduce Quorn pieces and fillets this week too :) When he turns one I will introduce some of the breaded bits too but these seem to have a bit more salt.

Quorn is good for everybody in moderation as part of a balanced diet

@Emily thanks a lot! We usually have the mince and the chicken pieces, was thinking to offer her as well :)

@Emmo thanks! ☺️

We are vegan so often have substitutes, although we've been having more whole foods since she's been weaning like veggies and tofu, but she has had beyond and vegan chicken once or twice. We just don't include them a lot due to the salt content.

I'm to the point where I don't buy the fake meat stuff anymore. I try to make stuff without a whole lot of science or additives. Lentils, black beans, quinoa, and justegg (which you can also make yourself) along with some veggies of choice can make an amazing pattie, burger,falafel, crumble, etc.

@🌻Desy🌻 Hi. Just wondering if you have any good easy and freezer friendly recipes you could share :)

The first thing that pops to mind is chili/or chili mac. We use a thrive Market vegan/gf mac & then just throw in some rinsed beans of choice (white beans always taste best but us mamas be using whatever we just have on hand 😆) plus some taco seasoning in desired amount. Eat, freeze leftovers & revive with some water or unsweetened plant milk.

@Michelle whenever I make mushroom risotto I freeze loads of cubes of it because my LO loves it

@🌻Desy🌻 how are you serving the beans? Do you mash them? Just thinking about choking risks

So far ive done black bean burgers, raspberry oat bars, cauliflower, cheese and potato tots, pin wheels. All ha e frozen really well and he likes them :)

@Emmo do you fin chop mushrooms or just chop as normal and serve?

@Michelle mine are all able to eat this meal without assistance. If you need to pulse your beans in a blender right quick, go for it! I get the beans in pouches from thrive Market because it just makes my life easier to cut open a pouch of ready to go food 😬

@🌻Desy🌻 I've not heard of this shop before. I'll take a look. Thanks 😊

@🌻Desy🌻 just realised it's American...I'm in UK 🤣

@Michelle for a risotto I cooked finely just so it is similar size to rice. I slice normally for other meals

@Michelle aw boo!

I think other shops sell beans in pouches too, but you'll have to see what goods y'all got. In the end, a big batch of chili mac goes a long way! 🙌🏼
