Months *
I was going to wait until 5 months old but I was so curious how my baby takes soild. So I gave her a small bit smashed banana when 4 months old. She took it very well. But I just a bit hit and miss trying to soild at the moment. Depends on our day.
World health organisation recommends exclusive breastfeeding or formula feeding until 6 months of age when you start introducing solids if baby is ready. Baby is considered ready if baby can sit minimally supported in a high chair, has lost the tongue thrust reflux, is able to put food to mouth. Starting solids earlier is not good for their gut as it their gut is not mature enough to cope with solids/foods. On top of that it is not recommended to give water to babies before the 6 month mark, and when starting solids it’s great to give them water to help wash down/clear mouth whilst eating.

@Sam fully agree to this. I was kinda shocked when the health nurse recommend / suggest to start solid 😳
Ours showed interest and our paediatrician said 4 months was ok too. We just gave our bub tastes of puree I made. Nothing too regimented though. He’s much more hands on now though at 5.5 months.
My baby has been on solids since 4 months he is now almost 6 x
