Flu at 34 weeks

Hey! I’m 34 weeks tomorrow and I have the flu. I’ve had a fever since yesterday but Tylenol works to suppress it for about 4 hours. I am so exhausted and have the body aches and a cough. My doc is recommending tamaflu. Has anyone taken this while pregnant? I’m extra nervous about taking medicine but also know that having a fever is not healthy for baby. 😫 Any suggestions or thoughts!

Is it your regular Dr you went to see about the flu or your OB doctor? If it was regular Dr, i would double check with your OB just to make sure they feel comfortable with you taking it.

To see if OB feels safe with you taking it

According to the CDC: Oral oseltamivir (Tamiflu) is recommended for treatment of flu during pregnancy because compared to other recommended antiviral medications, it has the most studies available to suggest that it is safe and beneficial during pregnancy.

I hope you’re better soon!!

I had the flu in January (I must have been somewhere between 14 and 18 weeks -can’t remember exactly). I took tamiflu and it helped a lot! OB recommended I take it and said it is generally safe and risks were outweighed by risks of fever/flu to baby. Feel better!

I took tamaflu

@Lea it was actually an advice nurse but my I messaged my doctor and they said they do recommend it to avoid any complications

@Jen thank you! My fever finally broke so I’m hoping I can just let my body do its thing.
