What time does your toddler have dinner?

We’ve always eaten together as a family around 7pm. (Bedtime is 8pm.) My husband started a new job recently and isn’t home until 7/7:30 so I need to probably feed my toddler and his baby sister, then do bedtime routine when my husband gets home, then us eat. I pick him up from nursery around 5:30 and I’m thinking it would be nice to just give dinner as soon as we’re home basically then have a bit of time to hang out and clean up. Is 5:45/6 a decent time for their last meal?

I aim for dinner at 5-5:30pm with bedtime at 7pm and asleep by 8pm, but my daughter (2yo) can take an hour to eat, so I always have to make sure she has plenty of time x

We have dinner around 4.45-5pm but we also start bed time around 6.30pm so a bit earlier and some nights my son is still eating at 5.30 but like that hour afterwards to get sorted and let him have some down time before we go up to bed

6pm, bedtime 7pm

Thank you all! Do any of yours have anything quite late at nursery? His last thing is “tea” at 4:30 and it’s a whole big meal which is why I’ve been fine with not doing dinner until 7. I’m a bit worried he won’t want to eat so early

Mine used to have a sandwich at childminders at 4.30pm and still eat a lighter dinner. You could just do a sandwich and see how he gets on?

We all eat together 6:30-7, we’ve always done this. On a nursery day, he has tea at 4:30 so on those days he has picky bits but still at the same time as my Husband and I sit down. Bedtime is 8:30ish. It works for us and I enjoy sitting together ☺️

We are a late family. Nursery does tea at 4.30, she usually eats with us again somewhere between 7-8 and goes to bed somewhere between 8.30-9 (wakes around 8am). It suits us as otherwise we wouldn’t get to see her much and the late wake up makes it easier to get ready for work + means a little bit of a sleep in on the weekend.

I clicked the wrong answer. 7pm here for an 8.30 pm bedtime (or half an hour earlier if I have to adjust bedtime accordingly).

@Rachel that’s what we’ve always done as well. It’s been so nice I’m really going to miss it!

My daughter has tea at 4.30 and that’s like her dinner and it’s her last meal of the day. She has a big hot meal at lunch then ends the day with beans on toast, sandwiches, a nice yoghurt stuff like that.

3:30pm dinner, 6pm supper, 7-7:15 bed time. Ages 5&2 x
