Hiya! Me and some friends have a weaning instagram of what we feed our children! We are all first time mums 🩷 let me know if you’d like it xx
@Harriet yes please that would be super helpful!
@Amy ahh thank you, I’ll check that out!
Solid starts the insta page and NHS guides were super helpful to me. We had 2 high chairs, but used the ikea chair most as its so easy to clean. And i didnt bother adding milk to puree and i didnt do much pureeing tbh as lazy, just went for BLW as easier
BTW breast milk / formula is still the primary food for infants under 1 year!
Solid starts app and Instagram is useful xx
I started on baby porridge on the formula shes on, obviously your BF so I think any baby porridge will do i also used heinz baby porridge. Just add cooled but warm boiled water if you get me. And then now she’s on purées from Emma’s kitchen as I found that had no added sugars just veg and water. You can also use any milk when weaning i mash up fruit and add skimmed milk into it with her porridge. You can also just do BLW which is giving her whatever you have or just little bits of finger foods for her to try herself (like strips of toast, pieces of broccoli etc) but I haven’t tried yet as I’m terrified 🙈 but only start with once or twice a day with foods and give her breast milk afterwards if she’s still fussy. Milk is still their main source of nutrition until 12 months xx
Also, I agree with the ikea high chair. Doesnt look the comfiest but my baby has been great in it and it’s so so easy to clean x
Are you set on purees or have you looked into baby led weaning at all? I absolutely loved weaning my babies straight into normal food. I never worried about having to blend and make purees etc I literally just dish them up what we are having. Steamed carrots and broccoli are always easy to start with, pasta, bits of meat, toast, fruits, bananas, strawberry, blueberries. It's just about making sure you serve it right (generally finger shaped foods initially) and no added salt, sugar or honey.
@Harriet I would also be interested if that's not a problem?😊
ive heard that gerber isn’t really the best. happy baby, beech nut, little spoon, earths best, and once upon a farm are supposed to be organic. also you can can just make them yourself if that feels safer for you.
@Harriet yes pls .. I am in the same boat x

How to wean your baby by Charlotte Stirling Reed is super useful. You can add any milk to food, it doesn’t have to be breastmilk, but if you want to add breastmilk to food (eg porridge) then yes, you’d have to pump.
