ADHD - Does anyone have any experience/knowledge of this in children?

Hi, I’ve always been pretty against labelling/attempting to diagnose a 2 year old with certain conditions however, in the back of my mind for the last 6 months or so I’ve had a feeling that my little girl may have ADHD. She stands out from any other children her age and I think her nursery have picked up on a few behavioural issues. My dad made a comment today about her having adhd and ever since then I just can’t stop thinking about it as I don’t want to believe it 😢 Is there anything I can do to support her?

Following as I think we might be in the same boat, I have similar feelings about my little girl and she’s just turned 2. We’re bringing forward her 27 month review with the health visitor, completed a behaviour package with the nursery nurses and going to a local group for children with additional needs but not necessarily have a diagnosis x

@Laura Thank you for replying! That’s a good idea, I may see if I can bring our review forward too (I haven’t even heard yet). I just keep trying to forget about it and put it to the back of my mind but now it’s being noticed by others, I feel like I need some help and advice on what to do best for her 🙏

I’m the same, struggling to find any help or anyone in the same situation. Everyone keeps telling me it’s ’terrible twos’ but I know it’s got to be something different. Happy to chat about signs you see in your little one, it’s so hard to find information on. Especially relating to girls. Definitely ring up the health visitors and speak through your concerns x

My now 12 year old son has inattentive adhd, dyslexia and Dyspraxia. As a toddler I didn’t notice anything at the time as a first time mum. However looking back there were signs - albeit fairly subtle; in his development he never really crawled in the normal way he used to drag one leg behind him - so like a lopsided crawl - at the time everyone thought it was cute but I mentioned it in his assessments and it was considered significant. He was a very sensitive, caring toddler - very emotionally mature for his age and always concerned for others. We noticed some sensory issues which would trigger emotional outbursts- hair cuts were an absolute nightmare - he went from lovely and calm to the thrashing around, biting his lip etc etc; at swimming he absolutely refused to go in the shower and would again thrash around and freak out; he couldn’t bare driving on the motorway because of the sound of the road.

He has also always been terrified of heights and would have panic attacks whilst really not very high up on climbing frames or climbing on walls or trees etc. Whilst none of these things that I’ve noticed now looking back were necessarily specific to ADHD these are subtle signals of neurodiversity and they are things that we noted and added as evidence in his assessments later in his childhood.

I am feeling exactly the same. I’m am so overwhelmed
