What’s your opinion on this: someone recently went grocery shopping at Walmart and they noticed that the meat is now LOCKED UP at their store location

Yup. I used to be a retail store manager and meat was a MAJOR theft target.
At least you can pick them up and bring them to check out yourself. I hate when things are locked and you need to ask an employee. All the make up at a Walmart near me is locked in cases you have to ask for assistance with...so then I just left because I'm not doing that 😅
Ridiculous. Walmart ceo made over 25 million in 2023. They can afford a little theft
@Haley they literally have insurance for theft and get money to make up for it 😫
I don't have time for that. I'm not waiting for an associate to unlock a case for me to get flea meds. Anything like that I'm just getting on Amazon lol
When I worked at home Depot we were taught that if you saw someone stealing anything, not to pursue them and to let them walk out the door.
Stores like Walmart and other big chains lose millions of dollars to theft every year.
@Tiffany they don’t though. If you’ve worked for one of the big chains they usually let you know about the insurance they have for theft. They don’t lose any money because they get it back from retail shrink insurance.
This is just crazy I’m not supporting theft but I’m assuming if someone is stealing food they’re desperate to eat or feed their families they literally have left insurance
@Fel I had a whole 40hr training with home Depot and sit down with loss and prevention and they said that they do indeed have a certain amount of expected loss and it was in the big numbers
@Tiffany but did they tell you how the get reimbursed for that loss?
They do this in certain stores in the uk that are heavily targeted for theft especially central London.
Where I live it’s normal, baby milk, meat and other things plus they have tag alarms on them
My local Asda and Tesco do this for baby formula

it’s not right to steal but if you are starving and have no choice i’ll look the other way
In Sacramento our florin location has almost EVERYTHING locked up
Stop shopping there
At that point just close the store
