@Brianna yes I stopped all bubbles straight away , I'm even scared to wash his hair now incase any goes on it. It's a nightmare 😫 I don't know what else to do xx
Check for hair that may be wrapped around his penis.
Hi lovely. I hope you don’t mind but I asked my partner as we only have a 9 weeks old and im still learning about boy things but we both had the same answer we both had the same answers we think it’s most likely a bacterial infection and it may be his foreskin Is too tight. But other than that my partner said if it was our son we would be looking for any signs of SA as if this has came from no where I.e using same nappy’s/whips you have clean hands when changing him there really should be much reason why he would have a bacterial infection in that area I know it’s not a nice thought just where our mind first went x
Also like how long have you been using the bubble bath? Is it a new addition to bath time or is something you’ve been using for a while?
@Hayley I had to read that twice then . No 1million percent. He's been at my side since the moment he was born. Not at nursery, never been looked after by anyone so can safely say no. The doctor said about maybe some poo getting in and causing pain but been told not to touch it or pull back incase I hurt him. Xx
@Hayley been using bubbles since he was born and the sensitive one and only started to hurt him maybe 2 months now xx
Sorry I was trying to put it in a very light way and ended up going in circles as I don’t want to cause upset. I’m glad you can safely rule that out I hadn’t even thought about poo that seems very likely.
Is he circumcised or no? (Not trying to start debate or whatnot just curious cause Dr told you not to pull back)
@Brianna no he's not. It could also be too tight and the last resort would be circumcision( from my research). I'm from UK and the advice I had is to leave well alone and not pull back to clean. It's so frustrating because I seen a few different opinions on it xx
@Hayley no worries. Yes of course we think of everything to help our babies. I was kind of hoping it was a common thing with boys maybe being tight and it will gradually get better as he grows 😕 xx
So mine had a problem with redness and soreness probably around 4 months and it took a while to figure out it was the diaper brand I was using and I switched it and my doctor gave me Vaseline to put on his so it didn't get stuck to diaper and keep moisture to heal it. Now mine is circumcised so I don't have the problem of extra skin. I asked my sister who works at hospital and specialized in younger patients that it could be a very real possibility that the skin is becoming to tight around his penis and cutting off circulation. Also she said it's weird that if they think poo is getting in it but they told you not to pull the skin back to clean it. 🤷🏼♀️ Bc how else is it going to get cleaned and treated? 🤔
@Brianna Yes your right there ! It's strange, I feel alone like noone can help me at all. I think il have to go back the doctors for a 3rd opinion 🤔 xx
@Brianna if the too tight and cutting off blood was the case. Surely he would not be able to wee , he has lots of wee throught day and night xx
Did you go to pediatrician or actual like er situation?
Trusted by 5M+ women
Trusted by 5M+ women
@Brianna pediatrician 2 of them . I called the emergency number and they told me to go see a pediatrician and they can tell me what's going on xx
Or idk if UK has them, um like emergency room at hospital?
@Brianna Yes this is next place for me to try I guess, he's his normal happy self all day. Only at certain times, It just wouldn't be classed as emergency as the 2 doctors I seen didn't think it was either x
Oh well that's just bologna. 😑 like a 2 yr old is crying about his penis hurting and it's so obviously red and just wrong. How is that not an emergency? Especially since it's been how long since it's been going on? 🤬 Oh that just makes me so mad. 😤
@Brianna I'm definitely going to push some more it's just exhausting, it's not red anymore so that's why I'm wondering why ? Or if he remembers it hurt and he is scared of a bath. I'm trying to think of everything, driving me crazy
Phimosis is my only explanation. From a Google search, he has the symptoms, but it says it's common in young boys and will correct itself. What do you do in the meantime 🤔
Yeah, that's definitely a tough situation. Especially if it gurt that bad that he's now a bit traumatized by it even at that young of an age. It was probably excruciating. 🫤
I don’t understand why people say not to pull back the foreskin to clean. People without circumcision are “exposed” so I’m confused about the hesitation to pull it back? Sensitive areas like that should definitely be cleaned. I would agree that it could be a bacterial infection. I’m not a doctor by any means lol but that would be my best guess. With any part of your body at all, germs can fester and cause discomfort if not cleaned properly. I hope kiddo feels better soon!!!! ♥️
Huh, that’s interesting! Thanks for sending that over! 🤗 I was going back and forth with the idea of circumcision for my son and did research on everything that would come along with not circumcising(including cleaning practices) - what i found was different 🤔 i did eventually end up deciding to circumcise him, but from what i can remember, i read something different!
Sounds like balanitis. Even though the redness goes away the pain lasts a bit longer. Wash after every pee if possible. Just with water, and tap dry. Shower only. Pain meds if you’re comfortable. 1-3 days and it should be gone. Polysporin gel 3 times per day. If they gave you an antibiotic cream even better. Of course follow your drs instructions.
@Mallory nope you are definitely mistaken 😊 you do not pull the foreskin back until it separates naturally, doing so could actually cause an infection. Obviously once they are old enough/this happens the cleaning routine changes and you talk to your child about maintaining hygiene
This happened to my oldest son when he was about 6 but his was bleeding and he was so distraught. I took him to a walk in centre and she said he had tight foreskin. She gave us this cream on prescription (I can’t remember the name of it it was years ago) we had to put it in the fridge, she told us if it didn’t work he would need to be circumcised, I was really hoping that wouldn’t be the case. Anyway after using the cream for some time it did the trick and he’s had no issues since (he’s 16 now)
I would try stopping baths maybe or not doing bubble baths. When I was young I would get really bad utis bc of bubble baths bc i was so sensitive. I'm sorry your little guy is hurting. 🥺 Hopefully gets better. 🥺
