I started at 165. With a starting BMI of 23. I’m 190 at 28 weeks and my midwife says I’m good. You’ll continue to gain in the 3rd trimester and you should because the baby gains weight. Just make healthy choices when you can.
I was at 130lbs (which is heavy for me, I’m 5’5”) due to IVF hormones just before getting pregnant. I got weighed at 142 lbs ~4 weeks ago (at 22 weeks) and I’m bracing myself for what I might weigh during my Dr visit next week. Even though everyone tells me I look great for being 26 weeks, I’m following whatever my doctor tells me, even if my vanity takes a hit as my and my baby’s health are top priorities. I just found out this morning I have gestational diabetes and have decided to cut out my couple of indulges of ice cream and cereal that I’ve been enjoying 3x/week. I’ve resisted all other cravings as so afraid of what else could happen.
Did your provider give any context to why they brought it up? 23 lb can be within the realm of normal for some starting body weight / BMI. I have only gained 13-ish over 28 weeks but I was overweight to begin with. This is my second baby, and my advice or how I cope is honestly to not worry about it too much but also not throw total caution to the wind and think that it will fall off later. If you feel like you are eating excessively to cope with stress or just because you are pregnant and "get to" maybe it's something worth reflecting on. But if you just feel like you are getting by and sustaining your body as normal I personally wouldn't recommend any major changes at this point in pregnancy. Sending love though bc this is a toughy!
