Free breakfast club

The new free breakfast club the government are planning on rolling out to Primary schools. Will this be available to all pupils regardless of if the parents are working or not? Or just certain pupils?

after reading the blog, it appears to me that it’ll be available to all pupils as it doesn’t specify working parents etc but we will see what the outcome is after they trial it with the first 750 schools xx

Yeah it's all parents. I'm hoping it gets rolled out to ours because breakfast club in my step sons school is going to be £7.50 a time for an hour 🫠. After school club is double that.

All. It’s the actual school they can’t discriminate/differentiate between working or non working parents like how are they going to enforce that anyway when there’s 50 students walking in grabbing breakfast. Our school here in Aus already does it, and it’s for all. It’s nothing extravagant though just toast some jams, some fruit and some cereal w milk and juice, they just grab whatever.

The issue is, like with most school incentives, it is underfunded. The cost that schools are given by the government does not cover the cost of hiring staff to distribute the food and watch the children. Quite a few schools dropped out of the trial as they couldn’t realistically do it without people volunteering to cover the time.
