My lo is also 3 in August. He will use his potty or the toilet at home unprompted. But only if he is naked from the waist down. If I put pants on him or loose bottoms he just does it in them. Currently working on that and practising pulling trousers up and down. He also doesn’t tell me when he needs to go, so when out he still has a pull up. Maybe your lo just needs a bit more time. A friend of mine didn’t show interest until age 3. You could also try putting pants on him then nappy over the top. He’ll start to realise he’s wet and likely find it uncomfortable.
Thank you for replying guys! I’ve been really stressing about it because he is the only one out of my friendship group who’s not potty trained and the oldest 🫠 He’s starting a school nursery in September and needs to be fully dry by then!
We started again over the long weekend and he’s been doing okay, but when we first started to introduce him to the potty he was like this so we just tried to get him to sit on the potty fully clothed doing something he really liked it that process actually took longer than the potty training so far, but I did get him who did this poo books and bluey, duggee and lots of potty books that we would read together with the potty in view 🤣
I tried potty training in January but my son wasn’t ready so we paused. I’m planning on starting again in a couple of months. I’m not too worried, he was late reaching other milestones. So long as I get him potty trained by September 2026 when he starts school then we’ll be fine.
My son isn’t potty trained either and he’s 3 in August! We tried over February half term and he cried and cried at the potty. Now he is only starting to tell me when he has done something in his nappy, but we are having a full downstairs rennovation and will be out of our house for 2 weeks then on holiday, so I’m going to give it ago once our house is complete and we’ve time to settle. I always think it’s such a rush at 2 to get them trained, they are still only so little & will get there in their own time x
What happens if you just popped him in pants for a week?
I'm not sure if boys are different but i started about a month ago taking my girl up to the toilet with me (was have a kids toilet seat attachment) and i'd go and then i'd ask if she wanted to try too and eventually she would stop whenever she needed to go and tell me 'it's time for toilet' so i'd take her up or pop her on her potty. It really worked a treat and now she's accident free through the daytime even at nursery. Not sure if it helped for her to see how grown ups go as she loves to say she's a big girl now x
We’ve just potty trained our twins in the Easter holidays, our girl was really not interested- would sit on the loo but not often go for a wee but they’ve smashed it & actually completely dry no accidents in the day (even through nap most days) I’d just give it a try with a bare bum inside for a day or two & if it’s still awful then leave it a while!
My girl point blank refuses to wee anywhere except a nappy. She holds it for up to 6 hours (from when she asked for a nappy) without accident but she just waits for her bedtime nappy and then fills it straight away. She's 3 in August too.
