I don’t get why they can’t tell us as early as 12 weeks, my sonographer said it’s too early to tell 😕
Both my sonographers told me at my 12 week scans with both pregnancies
think of it like this sometimes when ppl get early gender scans it might be a girl but the nhs scan is a boy. they don’t want to be responsible for misgendering so they say that it’s too early
We found out at 16 as we had an additional NHS scan, but would have otherwise found out at 20 weeks. From what I've gathered, there isn't enough to see on an ultrasound at 12 weeks. You may have seen people talking about "nub theory". It's called that because it's just a nub at that point.
I’ve been told that it’s partly to do with some families terminating early based on the gender
Some hospitals won’t tell you the gender. I had to go private to find out. Usually if the hospital does tell you then it’s at 20 weeks
I did a private scan at 15 weeks rather than wait for the 20 weeks scan!
Usually 20 Weeks with NHS x
It’s 20 weeks because before then it’s much less accurate due to everything being smaller. There is much more room for error. You can pay for a private scan from around 16 weeks to find out but again, being earlier the risk of error is higher.
20 weeks nhs, had a private gender blood test at 6 weeks, and a private gender scan at 14 weeks as couldn't wait
We found out at 20 weeks but you can always go private there are some scans that are very affordable.
@Kristiina wow really
Thanks all, I think I will wait until 20 weeks so it’s more accurate
20 weeks. You can do a private blood test at 12 weeks to confirm it, but it is expensive.

If you can’t wait for the 20 weeks scan, u can opt for private scan from 16 weeks
20 weeks with nhs is when we find out however from 12 weeks is when the genders visible on the scan but they can’t tell us
