Fear of doctors

Does anyone else’s child have a fear of doctors? My son is 22 months old and will not let a doctor anywhere near him. He even had a meltdown when a doctor tried to give him a sticker and reacts like this now if people try to give him stickers in other contexts as a result. He has very limited understanding and isn’t talking. His play skills are extremely limited and reading or playing doctors isn’t really accessible to him right now - we can do it but I don’t think it will actually help. It makes going to appointments very upsetting. Has anyone else dealt with this? Does it get better over time?

Same it's a constant battle every appointment.

Sorry to hear your son struggles with this too. It’s so awful isn’t it 😭 my son has glasses and gastrointestinal issues which require ongoing appointments and he’s so terrified. I wish I could help him somehow

Yes it is I literally left his eye appointment bawling one time and the staff was really trying to help to calm me down because they noticed I was overwhelmed, but I was just embarrassed. Everyone's staring at us and people automatically label you as a bad mom bc you can't get your child under control but whole time your child is just different and has mental issues that you can't control 😩
