1. Weekly Hours & Cost Nursery usually runs around 10 hours/day, so: 4 days × 10 hours = 40 hours/week Total weekly cost: 4 days × £78.75 = £315/week --- 2. Subtract the 30 Free Hours You get 30 free hours/week, leaving: 40 - 30 = 10 paid hours/week To find the cost of those 10 hours, we’ll first find the hourly rate: £78.75 / 10 hours = £7.875/hour So 10 paid hours/week = 10 × £7.875 = £78.75/week payable --- 3. Monthly Cost Before Tax Relief There are roughly 4.33 weeks per month (on average): £78.75 × 4.33 ≈ £341/month --- 4. Apply 20% Tax-Free Childcare You get 20% off, so: 20% of £341 = £68.20 Final monthly bill: £341 - £68.20 = £272.80 --- Final Answer: Your monthly nursery bill would be approximately £272.80 after free hours and tax-free childcare.

@MamaZita superb!!!

@MamaZita thank you so so much! Please can you help me with my youngest? She will be in the same nursery 3 days per week, 15 hours of funding and 20%tax free, I’m so horrible with calculating things thank you so much

3 days per week at nursery £78.75 per day (same as your older child) 15 free hours funding 20% Tax-Free Childcare --- 1. Weekly Hours & Cost Assuming 10 hours/day again: 3 days × 10 hours = 30 hours/week Weekly cost without any funding: 3 × £78.75 = £236.25/week --- 2. Subtract the 15 Free Hours 30 hours total - 15 free hours = 15 hours you need to pay for Hourly rate again: £78.75 / 10 hours = £7.875/hour So: 15 paid hours/week × £7.875/hour = £118.125/week payable --- 3. Monthly Cost Before Tax Relief Again, about 4.33 weeks in a month: £118.125 × 4.33 ≈ £511.41/month --- 4. Apply 20% Tax-Free Childcare You get 20% off: 20% of £511.41 = £102.28 Final monthly bill: £511.41 - £102.28 = £409.13 --- Final Answer: Your monthly nursery bill for your youngest would be approximately £409.13 after 15 funded hours and tax-free childcare.

Does little one attend term time only? If not, the hours are spread, so 30 hours actually only gets around 22 hours when stretched year round. And my nursery only let me use them in full day blocks, so I can only use 20 hours a week free, and then for those days there is a top up charge!! So I usually work out 2 days at full rate, 2 days at top up rate then divide by 1.2 to get the 20% tax free bit x
