Help pls

Hi, I have a 2.5 year old daughter and I’m unsure if she has autism but and she grows I’m noticing more traits? She hit all her milestones on time, had great eye contact and speech and doesn’t do any stimming or anything. What I’ve noticed is when she wants to play with us or colour she will tell us exactly what to do and that’s how she wants it done. Eg. She will tell us which colour we can use and the stop she wants us to colour nd we’d only be allowed to do that which after researching I’ve seen that it could be PDA ? She also lines up her toys and doesn’t follow any instructions. We have had issues with her sleep aswell. Not sure if this sounds like it could possible be autism ? Can I get some advice pls.

Hey! I’m an RBT, the spectrum is SO wide, that I know a lot of things scare parents nowadays but to be sure I’d recommend bringing that all up to your pediatrician to see what they say, and maybe they can give you a referral to see a specialist to evaluate her. It could just be her personality right now, especially if she’s an only child. I would recommend taking videos of the things you notice or while she’s playing to show them what you’re talking about. It’s best to start early intervention to have a higher success rate of ABA therapy working for your daughter. Hope this helps! Good luck!

As a mom, I’m curious about the type of instructions you’re giving your daughter. My daughter is around the same age, and sometimes she can be defiant or hesitant to follow a direction. It’s totally normal for her age. Here are a few tips that might help: - Always give one instruction at a time. - Get down to her level and make sure she’s not playing. - Make eye contact and ensure she understands what you’re asking. - Stay calm and keep it short. - sing a song or tell her it’s a game to help her clean up her toys. Sometimes, things can feel overwhelming for them, so we just have to guide them a little more and let them know we’re there for them. Message me anytime!
