Glue traps

My husband laid out a few glue traps in our garden because all our freshly planted bulbs/flowers keep being eaten. Along with vines on our new tomato plant. Annoying but I kind of feel like, well, I'm glad a little animal is getting their food đŸ„ș Well today I found a tiny mouse dead on the glue trap. When my husband came home later to throw it out, showed me the poor little guy chewed a hole through the trap trying to escape and died with with a peice of plastic in it's mouth 😭😭😭😭 it seems like a cruel and inhumane way to attempt to save a garden. Any tips on what works that isn't a harsh chemical or is a slow, painful, scary death for furry little creatures? He thinks it's fine but earlier this week, another trap had a tail on it. A rat chewed it's tail off to escape. I do not want death like this in our garden 😐

Put a wire cage over it? You can adjust it as the pants grow, but it will keep pests off of your roots...đŸŒ±

You can try a cage like bonny suggested. Personally, I think glue traps are completely inhumane. What a horrible way to die. The way I think about it is that my garden is in their home, it's their domain and they're just trying to survive. So I always plant something a little more tasty that I don't mind them going to town on (strawberries are a huge hit- small enough to hide amongst flowers and tasty enough to be what most critters will munch on) so that they leave my flowers more or less alone.

If you’re going to kill the animal the “humane” way is a snap trap But cages, mesh bags, since it’s rodents black and red pepper border

I'm a professional pest controller and these glue traps have been made illegal in Scotland and should only be used by a professional. This is because the mouse NEEDS to be dispatched (killed by the person who puts them down) in a human way, they should be checked 4 times a day. Please remove any other glue boards you have placed, they shouldn't be used outside at all incase a bird lands on it it's as good as dead and birds are highly protected by law. Please don't take this to heart though, you are innocent because people just aren't aware. I'd recommend trying to proof your house. So look for any little gaps in proofing structures and fill these in. Especially by doorways and around cables and pipes. This will stop mice from connecting around the house. I hope this helps! Xxx

I tossed out all the glue traps and made it crystal clear to my husband NO MORE. There was another mouse this morning stuck to one but still alive 😭
