Ignore such stupid people. We use the hand rein version mostly now. It gives a bit more independence. When we go out and about I put a smart watch on my Son, he doesnt take it off without asking, I'm actually thinking to get him his own size in case we lose him we can track him. My husband was saying perhaps sewing into jackets and putting into shows some trackers too which I feel its too much. People will always judge no matter what, as long as you are doing something for the safety of your child that's the most important thing.

@Salma I did it just got annoyed and it caught me off guard. Yeah I think we've used all the reins possible lol we tried the wrist/hand ones but he figured how to take them off and that was the ones with the magnetic lock 🔐. We have some school supplied ones and the ones we use are hobbled he hoo. It has 3 lengths and gives him independence. And alot of his friends use the same ones. But my issue is he has noted his reins are like the dogs lead thanks to this stupid woman 🤦‍♂️. He takes everything in and to heart. I like the smart watch idea. I think some people use apple air tags. But I may be wrong.

Oh bless him. I don't have apple so can't use those but I guess can use my Samsung ones. I just need something that battery will last.

Yeah he got to the car and said my reins like ozzys lead. But bless my daughter she said just like your reins keep you safe ozzys lead keeps him safe. So I think he accepted that. No I don't have apple either. Surely Samsung would work but like you say need the batteries to last. It's so hard trying to let our kids have independence and keep them safe at the same time. My lad just has an impulse to run. Plus he has an amazing memory.

@Hayley we've recently changed locks to yale smart ones because my husband keeps forgetting to lock one of them which is the top one and once my Son opened and went outside, luckily he returned almost immediately but we didn't want to chance it. So now we have locks that we can lock wherever we are at least I can keep a closer eye too. Your Son will be OK love.

@Salma sounds like our son we can't leave keys in the door and have locks on interior doors to stop him eloping. My lads gone out the front I turned my back for a second but thankfully big brother was putting rubbish in our outside bins and gave chase. Its so scary. My lad doesn't always respond to stop. And thank you 😊 right now he's enjoying snack and begging me to outside. Lol 😆 i havnt got the energy 🤣 but no doubt we will end up outside for a bit.

I've not heard of smart yale locks. Yeah my other half leaves keys in the door must be a male thing lol 😆

@Hayley Most men are like this regardless of age. They will ask you where arebtheir keys, glasses, phone when are holding them 😂. However what they like and obsess on they give full attention. We got from Amazon i will fond links and share. Once my Son sprinted off outside by going under his dad's legs who was standing in the doorway smoking, my husband couldn't catch up with him (he can hardly run being overweight and having a busted knee), luckily a neighbour who actually runs marathons and things was out and quickly reacted, chased him and caught up and got him back. I can't even chase at all with my back and pelvic issues

Ah ok thank you. Yeah true I can't do running due to hip problems since Birth and not allowed to run after hip surgery but I can walk fast when needed. I'm also got a bit of added timber lol. But working in it lol 😆. My other half can run as he used to sprint but he's older now lol 😆. Oh our kids know what their doing. My lad also likes locking me out 🤣 he once locked me i the outhouse ans i left my phone in the living room and the other half couldn't understand why or son kept laughing saying mummy in the kitchen 🤣 half an hour before he realised 🤣.

Oh dear, so these are both keyless so fob, phone, card, either can be used. One even can be opened with pin. https://amzn.eu/d/ihxRwVn https://amzn.eu/d/74FruoH

@Hayley I use to sprint myself in my teens, very sporty but cannot do nothing now. You can always keep a spare key in a locked box if you have like a bike shed of something, or leave with a trusted neighbour. I sometimes take him to the lake with his siblings, they stay in buggy and he walks along, i sometime allow him to have the rein off to feed the ducks, we have already talked that the lake is not for us to swim and splash but for the ducks and other animals so he at least listens. My daughter though is the trouble maker wants to run around

@Salma yeah he also tried it the other day but I took my keys lol 😆 we do have a key safe box outside but don't know tge code lol 🤣. I'm glad of the reins as he is attracted to water and I said let's go and watch some boats near the canal and he was like go in the canal 🙈 5 times we had to explain only at the swimming pool or sea we can go in the water. So if he didn't have his reins on he would of gone in the canal as his brain would tell him to. Even though he knows its not safe. I've been told it's his adhd impulse. We are slowly working on no reins but not yet he still needs them at 8.

@Hayley Mine doesn't understand the safety and danger side of things but he does understand that it's only for ducks and other animals (and boats for those lake that have them) so I go with that. My eldest is also 8, turning 9 in July .

@Salma I'm happy to use reins as he won't go in a pushchair cause if you stop hed get mad and tip it up. We was offered 1 through school but agreed reins are best with him as he is wanting to be independent so much but not safe in alot of situations. Its nice knowing I'm not the only 1 if that makes sense. I had to explain to some kids that play on a grassy area outside our house he can't as he's different to them ( they where his friends from mainstream). I'd say alot of the times he's so bouncy and happy he forgets himself.

As long as it works, my Son stopped using pushchair as he doesn't want to go on it but struggles walking much distance then insists to be picked and carried , he is happy to walk all the way around the lake (Connaught Water) while we have breaks, snacks and feed ducks.
