Chamomile tea

Are you guys drinking chamomile tea? I googled and got lots of mixed results... Some people say it's ok, some say don't drink it at all. The acid reflux is killing me, tums not helping, thinking about a cup of tea...

I had the same question and dont really know but i drink yogurt for the acid reflux

Tum’s makes acid reflux worse! It encourages more production of acid in your stomach. Try gavescon or pepcides, they neutralize the acid rather than increase acid!! Personally pepcides work best for me!

I’ve been drinking the earth mama third trimester tea which is chamomile based. I don’t think that it would be marketed as a pregnancy tea if it was dangerous

I drink it every now and then but not for acid reflux.

Most herbal remedies are “not recommended in pregnancy” due to a lack of testing. I personally believe chamomile tea to be fine. The herbs an actual herbalist typically wouldn’t recommend in pregnancy are those which cause uterine cramps. From what I’m seeing regarding chamomile you’d need to ingest a lot for it to cause uterine contractions. Like Emily said here tums is actually not a great remedy. Sometimes we need more acid in our stomach not less. Not to mention antacids like that are often found to contain heavy metals/neurotoxins. You can also try apple cider vinegar. Also monitoring what you eat and figuring out triggers helps, for me it’s sugar

Thanks everyone! Will try see if these other remedies :) hope you all get a good night's sleep

I’ve been avoiding chamomile because of how it is said to induce labour. I do think you have to drink a shit ton of it for that to happen but doesn’t hurt to be safe, I guess. And I didn’t particularly go for chamomile before pregnancy anyway. I drink pumpkin rooibos tea almost everyday and it helps prevent swelling and bloating as well as fix my general desire for a warm beverage.

Baking soda and water works great for me! Tums don’t seem to work at all.

Sadly it’s been months, along with my other favourite teas. Red bush and peppermint appear to be fine, just make sure there is no hibiscus.

I had no idea we weren’t supposed to have chamomile tea 😳 I do have like 2 or 3 cups a week during the night every now and then, and so far everything is good 🤷🏽‍♀️ will ask my in next time

Try over the counter pepcid or ranitidine. Also, one cup of fennel seed tea is helpful, and raw veggies are helpful. I have massive reflux, so my Dr gave me a prescription for losec, but I try to only take it when I need it. I find that I get triggered by certain foods and carbonated drinks. If I can stag away from them, my reflux is way less.

Nothing works for my heartburn. My midwife suggested almonds but my partner is deadly allergic so I havent tried.
