@Kat thank you Kat! Baby is bottle fed so I add the powder to her formula! Could you give baby the syringe before feeding so then when they feed they’ll only drink what their tummy can handle? I’m not sure how it would work breastfeeding I’m afraid! Xx
And also, what is dentinox? Is that a stronger version of gaviscon?
@Kat Dentinox is for colic! It’s the same as infacol really but less acidic as doesn’t have the orange flavour and we found infacol made baby constipated so switched to dentinox! X
Is that prescribed? Or over the counter?
@Kat may I ask why your doc said one or the other? Our little boy is having gaviscon and infacoil and recently just swapped infacoil with gripe - alongside infacoil. Our doc said it was fine but I thought it was too much so just curious if your doc gave a reason? X
@Kat I BF and have tried gaviscon, though made my baby very constipated so we gave up on it. I pumped 60ml and then just added the gaviscon to the bottle. You could try that if you're doesn't manage to drink all via the syringe? :)
My doctor said we can use both, but a side question if anyone can help.. how the hell do you get wind up with Gaviscon? 😂 Only started it yesterday and already noticed the difference in how hard it is to get the wind up. The doctor did say it could happen as the gaviscon is trying to keep it down but wow 😮💨 x
Also, gaviscon is for reflux and Dentinox is for wind/colic so I’m going to carry on with both x
@Kat it’s over the counter you can get it in supermarkets x
I’m using Infacol for colic and just started using Infant Gaviscon for her reflux! Since using it her reflux has been amazing however after 2 days the babe is really constipated and in pain. So now we are having to choose the less of the two evils. Constipation or reflux? Any tips would be amazing
@Rhian the HV said to us to choose either Infacol/dentinox or gaviscon
@Rhian im opting for using it on first and last bottle of the day. Instead of every feed, hoping this will help with constipation. My sister did this and still got the benefits x
Hi Yasmin. My son has reflux and gas. We were using Infacol and then given gaviscon from the GP. I went to see the health visitor yesterday who told me just to use one of the other. She said 'choose your poison' so to speak. So we've stuck to gaviscon. Is your bub BF or bottle just curious...how are you giving them the gaviscon mix? The packet says a total of 15ml. That seems quite a lot of liquid on top of a feed. My LO doesn't always have the full amount and feels like I could mix it with 10mls of liquid instead as mine is BF and I've been doing it via a syringe in-between each boob.
