Take the risk and eat the sandwich? Jk

Soooooo the next jimmy johns is like 30 mins from me and my entire pregnancy I’ve had literal dreams about getting a cold cut sandwich after birth. I know a lot of women eat them but I’m terrified of the whole listeria thing & then I’m already 5 weeks away so it’s like why not hold out BUTTTT I work at an airport and a flight that got cancelled had a bunch of jimmy johns sandwiches sent here and I was told by them that we can keep them. I’m so sad and torn. I know I can warm it but I want it cold😭 it’s just wild out of all the things, my #1 post partum meal since day 1 is sitting there FOR FREE and in abundance 😂😂😂 Can I warm it to kill potential bacteria then cool it down???

Just eat it mama! One isn’t going to harm the baby! I have eaten plenty of cold cut deli meats and other things that aren’t “allowed”

I also say just eat it. I been eating deli sandwiches since the second trimester cause they are my favorite and I just couldn’t stop myself 😅

You can eat it cold

Just make sure you pray over it

I didn't eat cold cuts for the longest time then I broke at my baby shower. I've had maybe 3 sandwiches cold total since then. I feel you though I also am dreaming of Jimmy Johns!

@Sam it’s also the fact that I’m soooo close to birth and I’ve held out THIS long already😂 it’ll be a reward

@Annelise yeah I heard they slice fresh to order which I believe pre sliced meat is where listeria mainly grows. I could be wrong but ughhhh I might just have to😂

@Alana Davila I totally understand! But you’re 35 weeks pregnant mama! You deserve that sandwich!

Just microwave the meat until steaming. (I work in Nutrition and tell all my patients this if they are worried about listeria)

I say I think it’s okay to eat if you are willing to heat it. I held out and it made my first meal so much better! That was my first meal too 😂 a nice jimmy johns gargantuan sandwich with a chocolate chip cookie.

I've had a craving for Jimmy John's since my first trimester and have been eating it since. I say a prayer before all my food and leave it up to God 😂 but on a serious note, listeria would be bad for a non pregnant person as much as it would for a pregnant. To me if there haven't been any outbreaks reported for Jimmy John's then I feel at ease that its not going to be in my sandwich. I felt better after I educated myself on what listeria was

i would just go for it! i talked to my doctor about it at one of my visits and she told me listeria isn’t as common as you’d think. she’s seen lots of women eat cold cut sandwiches and their pregnancies have gone on to be healthy! i myself eat them as well and baby girl is just fine ❤️

1 sandwich is fine I think!

I’ve ate plenty of cold sandwiches my pregnancy and this isn’t my first baby is fine .

Just eat it! I’ve eaten things I wasn’t supposed to. I just did it in moderation and was very selective when I did. After all your growing a human, enjoy the simple things in life.

I eat jimmy johns like once a week! Just had it for lunch today actually lol. I will only eat jimmy johns I don’t buy lunch meat from the store and do cold cut sandwiches, and I will not eat subway, don’t trust it! I cannot resist jimmy johns!

Eat it!! You deserve it 😁

Eat it!!! I’ve been eating deli subs my entire pregnancy. Just use your common sense and don’t eat anything too old or that smells bad. Honestly the science behind a lot of these food restrictions is a little patchy

Just eat it! Jimmy John’s Vito sandwich is going to be my postpartum meal! I’ve been waiting so longgggg
