Neocate and refusing bottles - please help

So a bit of back story, my LO is 15 weeks on Friday. We have had issues with reflux since birth - she’s tried anti-reflux milk, gaviscon, omeprazole and nothing seems to have worked. She started having additional CMPA symptoms at around 8-10 weeks (rash on her face that flared when drinking milk, snuffly, sneezing after feeds, scaly forehead, irritable and fussy, mucus in her poo and lots of sick). We were prescribed nutramigen and tried this for two days - she threw up almost the entirety of every feed and screamed due to how thin it was, we went back to anti-reflux milk and upped her omeprazole but she was throwing up the omeprazole and her CMPA symptoms worsened. She was put on nutramigen again but with carobel to thicken it and was thriving for four weeks. Then last week all her CMPA symptoms returned and she was being very sick, projectile. The gp prescribed neocate and the first day her feeding was fine - took whole bottles (7oz) with no issues but she came out with a pretty severe rash on her stomach but her reflux was almost gone it seemed… until yesterday when she’s now started refusing her bottles (taking 4oz max really at each feed) and throwing up quite a lot again. She really seems to not like the neocate and I don’t know what to do, she’s 75th centile so a big baby (6.5kg) and this isn’t like her to be off her milk, she wasn’t ever put off by nutramigen and that stuff stinks 🤣 Does anyone have any advice or help? She’s spent a lot of today and yesterday screaming (she seems fairly constipated on this milk now) and I am at my wits end after thinking we were finally getting somewhere with it all 😭

(She has also not taken the omeprazole for about 2-3 weeks, she doesn’t take medicine well and refused to take the omeprazole liquid and barely takes the tablet but definitely throws it up as we see the little purple bits in her sick)

So with the milks it's normal for symptoms to get worse before getting better again so you might actually be better sticking with the nutramigen for a few more weeks as it's normal to get worse again first. Neocate is thin and makes my LG very sicky no matter what we try and she's always only had small amounts of her bottles never had the amount she should have. At 21 weeks(tomorrow) she averages 3oz a bottle sometimes pushes and has 5oz but not often She is only small though but should still be drinking more, I wonder if neocate is really filling for them 🤷‍♀️

This is what my mum said - is she really full? We did what the gp said for the moment re changing neocate but I just don’t know, we’ve got an appt with a paediatric dietitian on Saturday so will go through it all with him then and hopefully he can advise 🤞🏼 I’m pulling my hair out because it’s fine for the drs to say try this, try that but she is screaming constantly at the moment and I hate to see her in pain 😭 thank you though, I’ll ask the paediatrician about sticking with nutramigen because the gp didn’t seem to really know xx

Our lo has just switched from nutramigen to neocate as well and is also refusing feeds. I posted about it literally 2 days ago. Shes since started taking 3oz here and there. The nutramigen still has cows milk proteins in it so its not ideal for cmpa babies. My lo developed a big rash after 2 months on it and its now gone with the tiny bit of neocate shes taking. Please let me know what the paediatric dietitian advises you our gp has yet to refer us even though I was near in tears the other day. My lo is 5 months old x

Forgot to add she also has really bad reflux

@Astra they sound really similar actually - We’ve had to go private for the dietitian, I can’t afford it but I am in tears every day not knowing what to do, thankfully my mum offered to pay but I will let you know 🙏🏼 how much was your little one drinking before? Interesting your lo developed a rash around a similar time too - my little girl has had bad reflux again the last two days so I really don’t know if it’s working or not x

At 14 weeks when my little girl had a dietitian appointment she based what she should be drinking every day on her weight. My little girl had gone from 7oz bottles to 1-2oz at a push, although she hasn’t lost she advised me that we needed to get her intake way up and told me what she should be taking. We have to add strawberry krusha to her bottles (she’s now taking 6oz since) and feed her on her elevated on her side to stop her choking and then refusing the bottle. We also went back onto gaviscon and that hugely helped (it didn’t work to begin with when we first tried it but it now works fine!), we split one sachet between 6 feeds so avoid the constipation and touch wood… we seem to finally be on the right track. She’s now 19 weeks by the way!

Also, if anyone on here hasn’t seen a dietitian yet… my inbox is open. Happy to let you know more about the advice etc :) x

@Kayleigh what did she say she should be taking? We tried strawberry nesquik but she still wouldn't drink it :(

@Kayleigh mylo also chokes on it. Id love to see the position you hold your lo in? Elevated on her side I can't quite picture xx
