Maternity allowance

I've searched other posts about MA on here and it seems people commonly get a message to confirm receipt of their MA application/documents (after a week or so?) and then later, get a decision about their MA (after about 4 weeks). I set off my app with docs 2 weeks ago and I've heard nothing at all. I don't trust Royal Mail and I'm a little worried. Could people who have applied for MA recently advise on their experience and timeframes please?

Following as I'm just about to send mine off 🙈 I'm terrified of it getting lost. @Nicole did you pay for it to be signed for with royal mail so you can track? xx

i don’t know if it’s slight different but i’ve applied for SMP as i hadn’t worked at my job long enough for them to pay me … if that’s the case i did receive a text message saying that they’ve received it and will let me know their decision in the next 4 weeks. when on the phone the lady did advise to send it tracked but i just put mine in the post box with the prepaid envelope they send you xx

I sent mine signed for last week and got a text message 2 days later from them saying that they will make a decision within 4 weeks x

I was worried mine would get lost in the post but just got a text today! Phew! I'd say I sent it about 2 weeks ago xx

There is a 4 week backlog! I called and asked about mine xx

Thanks all. I called today as I sent it off on 30th April and had heard nothing to confirm receipt. They confirmed (after 45 mins on hold) that they recieved it on 10th May (so Royal Mail took 10 days to deliver first class!). And said they are (as of today) working on apps/docs recieved 24th April, so will take at least 4 weeks to get a decision x
