i’m consultant led care due to BMI. I would definitely raise it, call your local hospital and ask for advice.
What trust are you with? Either way, if you are any way uncomfortable let them know and they are usually good at listening to your needs.
I’ll be northern trust. I have an appointment next week as a proper booking appointment so hopefully will find out then. I will definitely raise my concerns, I guess I was just a bit taken back from the conversation and it’s just left me wondering.
I was south eastern health and social care trust and was consultant led due to my bmi x
I was part consultant led as i met the factors for it BMI & First Pregnancy- it could be as its not your first pregnancy you dont meet the risk factors to be consultant led this time particularly of you first pregnancy/birth was normal Pretty sure there is a section in your notes that they complete that determines weither your midwife / shared / consultant led x
Does anyone know what your BMI has to be for you to need consultant led care?
@Aisling I think it’s over 35. Maybe over 30 if you have any health complaints
@Victoria thank you! My BMI is 31.5 and I never considered that I might be consultant led.
@Aisling if it hasn’t been mentioned to you yet then they probably don’t have any concerns. Midwives are amazing at picking anything up and your blood pressure and urine will be checked at every appointment to check for preeclampsia etc which can come later on, if that happened you’d see a consultant and that just means you’ll get extra scans to see baba
@Aisling they will take you at whatever your BMI is at your 12 week booking appointment! the only positive is you get an additional scan at 16weeks and then again from around 28, was nice to have the additional care and scans that you wouldnt usually get! X
Hello, in my first pregnancy Antrim area hospital wanted me to be shared care for my bmi but I went with the Royal who deemed me low risk. I will be consultant led care for this pregnancy due to pre eclampsia and having a micro preemie.
