Teaching salary increase

Hi mums, Not mum related but I heard that as of July 1st teachers received a pay increase. Can anyone let me know what the outcome was? Happy to DM if rather than post publically on here. I'm moving from Sydney to Melbourne next year with my young family. X

Hello, yes I can confirm there was a salary increase on 1 July for Government school teachers. If you are a teacher in Sydney, then your teaching experience can be recognised towards your starting salary in VIC (just no casual teaching).

@Kathleen thanks so much. What range would I be if I've taught in Sydney for 9 years?

@Daniela so just 1% I thought it was going to be more

Each increase (every January and July) are 1%. With regards to your range, it really depends on your previous experience, time fractions, and if there were any periods of unpaid leave. In VIC, teachers progress to the next step on 1/5 each year until they reach the max range of 2-6. You will need to provide a statement of service from your teaching experience in Sydney to your school and they will be able to advise you of your starting range. Happy for you to DM me if you have any other questions
