I find pumping in the morning gives the most milk and I'm still able to feed . Then I pump again in the afternoon, gives slightly less but still enough for one feed in the evening. I will use the evening milk that day and plan to freeze the milk from the morning for a later date. I use a hands free pump so it doesn't take any extra time, can be a bit of a faff sterilising the pump parts but seems to be working ok so far.
I pump when my other half is giving the bottle of expressed in the night. It means my supply doesn't slow and my boobs don't get uncomfortable and I'm only up for 15 mins and go back to bed as dont need to do the winding and settling. Also if she feeds more on one side I'll then pump directly after on the side that she didn't feed on much. I'm probably doing it all wrong đ
Unless you have very high letdown it is a lot of additional work. You can try pumping a little bit after each feed.
