Maternity leave/bonding (NJ)

NJ girls please tell me what I’m supposed to be doing for disability/maternity/bonding time. I filed my leave with my job a couple of weeks ago (they use Lincoln financial). I thought I’m also supposed to file with NJ for disability but Lincoln financial said no and they’ll do it. My disability leave won’t begin until Sept 24 (36 weeks). When do I file with NJ for bonding time? Worried I’m not doing things correctly.

Once your approved for nj disability (took me 3 months to get approved and collect money) due to my employer not filling out the E 10 form. But once approved or if your approved through Lincoln financial there is an online portal for family bonding, you put the day you recovered in family bonding and other information they ask on the form then you are approved within days and usually you are back paid from the day you recovered.

But the state makes it an extreemly complicated and stressful process I’m not sure why it isn’t easier

Be extremely careful, they over paid me and because i was handling a colicky baby not watching how much they gave me i now owe them money. I told them i have no way of paying right now and they said it would be removed from my taxes or the state would take me to court.

I need to file for bonding time but I can’t find my claim ID, and I need to spend more time with my son since he’s been in the NICU and he’s been needing me

What if you are self-employed and you for all taxes are you still able to claim for medical leave or maternity leave?

I filed for my bonding time after my 8 weeks were up I had a C-section I worked up to 1 week and a half before my leave . So after my 8 weeks I then did the other half for my bonding time was 12 weeks I didn’t go back to work till end of Jan . Well this was 3 years ago now I did all the stuff myself because my boss didn’t even know I can get the bonding time .it took like almost 2 months before I got paid good luck 👍🏽 🤗

@Taylor you can call they will give it to you or and send it out again

Once you apply for maternity leave which will be 6/8 depending on your birth you will receive bonding time letter in the mail as well once you complete the form it does take 2 weeks to process but there will not be any delay on payment. I suggest you take your bonding time consecutively because if you split it up you will only be able to claim for one week versus the full 12 weeks and you get paid bi weekly. I’m finishing up my time now 2 weeks
