High BP

Has anyone got high BP (reference mine is >150/100) and not been given meds or anything been done? I went to see my nurse today, and they took a total of 4 measurements - some at the start and some at the end of the appointment. They were all around 150/100. They told me if I have BP regularly over 140/90 I should call labour and delivery (but didn't tell me why) but my BP has been like the measurements today for weeks and they don't seem to be freaking out. I took two a few hours after I got home and got 157/102 and 152/102. My notes say 'go to labor and delivery if you get high bp with triple digits at either side. But they weren't that bothered earlier and I don't want to go sit in the hospital for no reason apart from some medical professionals covering their butts. They're either irresponsible, and should have done something earlier, or they're overly covering their butts at the expense of my comfort. Does anyone have experience with this? I'm irritated as I directly said to the nurse 'ok but I've been having these measurements for weeks, but everything is fine?' and got some blaze answer about the doctor marking me as phase I hypertensive (which is 130-139) so not needing medication and medication potentially preventing blood flow to the fetus. I hate the lack of clear direction here.

This is due to high BP usually being an indicator of preeclampsia. I knew I was high risk so I got on baby aspirin at 12 weeks (33+6) now, have an at home bp cuff to measure and drink Orange juice daily. A banana can also help bring it down. To me that’s totally irresponsible to send you home with a bp that high. Here we are told anything higher than 140 on the top or 90 on the bottom, go to the hospital immediately

Go to hospital 😊

I’m on both high blood pressure medication and aspirin for scores around this area as well. Since then, my scores have lessened and been in the more normal range. Another trick I have is to eat garlic. I cut off a small piece of fresh garlic and wash it down with water like a pill. (Cause it’s gross to chew it)

But yeah I’d still go to the hospital if I were you. Doesn’t matter if your doctor takes you serious or not, it’s your health and babies that are at risk so you need to advocate for yourself.

Go to the hospital!!!!! Seriously

Thank you @Aisha @Johanna @Jailene @Ali I did go to the hospital and was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia! My BP was steadily at 152ish/102ish the whole time so it was definitely time to go!

@Stephanie I’m glad you went!! Praying that all goes well for you moving forward 🙏🏾
