I’ve got the easy mats which are silicone but will be moving over to normal plates when lo is about 14/15 months like I did with my eldest ☺️
We have silicone and have no issues, there more affordable, but it really depends on your situation xx
Both work! Bamboo is maybe a little more expensive. Both are perfectly hygienic and easy to clean. Get some of each of you want! No need to choose.
I've heard the ceramic ones can get a soapy taste after a while
Stainless steel or porcelain if it’s available! 😊 People say when you wash silicone, the dish soap gets absorbed, and it will have the food tasting like soap. Bamboo is what we started off using, but there’s been people to say there’s toxic substances in the resin that binds the bamboo, and while I’m not a huge crunchy mom, we just decided the stainless steel works for us 😊
I started off with silicone but I found that it started to smell like soap and would sometimes make food taste soapy too, so now I have bamboo ones! I use bamboo bamboo plates and bowls and they are great!
We gave up with plates in the end and just put it on the high chair tray. Plates just always ended up on the floor. Side note anything silicone we had (mainly baking cases) always ended up making the food taste of soap so we stayed away from silicon for LO
Ehh it’s difficult to say. For babies we used silicone spoons because it was easier to feed them if needed or for them to hold it. The silicone plates never stuck for us so that didn’t really matter. Then j used plastic because it was easier to wash and all that. Now with my older son we used stainless steel plates and bowls and little plastic bowls for my daughter since silicone can hold flavor or soap or whatever. But I still needed not wood to be able to put in the dishwasher
We use bamboo, I hate how silicone absorbs everything. I don’t mind having to hand wash it, as I don’t put quite a few other things in the dishwasher either.
Bamboo! We started off with silicone and if you want something you can stick in the dishwasher, then silicone is great for that. But I personally found that any time I’d taste our daughter’s food, there was a horrible flavour to it, that’s a bit overpowering for me tbh. Not sure what caused it honestly but it happened exclusively with the silicone plate & bowl. Since we switched her over to a bamboo plate, we’ve had none of that. Since our daughter is now 20m we’ve switched her over to a plastic bowl for cereal. I’d recommend a bamboo bowl and plate (we have a plate with 2 small compartments and 1 big one) & it has a silicone sticker underneath that sticks to the table. It’s going to be a little more expensive and needs to be washed by hand, but it should last long term.
We use bamboo bamboo - they actually stay suctioned to the tray unlike others!
We have bamboo for home then I got the EasyTots Mini Mats for if we go to a restaurant or for eating out and about as it has a lid and pouch.
We've personally used bamboo bamboo plates, bowls and cup and we love them. They are perfectly hygienic, if you read about them on their website it states that bamboo is naturally antibacterial and microbial so warm soapy water is all you need when cleaning :)
