Hi maternity pay query
Hi all,
Can someone help me work out maternity pay entitlement? I started a job on 7th May. To qualify for occupational maternity pay, I need to have been working here for 12 months up to and including the 15th week before the expected week of childbirth.
I worked it out that the soonest I could get pregnant would be November, is that right?
Not pregnant yet, just planning ahead and want to know what's the soonest I could get pregnant and be entitled to enhanced maternity pay.

Thanks, I've been there for a few months. I'm just trying to figure out when I'd be entitled to enhanced maternity pay, I'm terrible with dates etc 😂
If it's enhanced then that entirely depends on your company policy so check with them. It's totally optional on their part so they can essentially make whatever rules they want.
I'd wait a year then start trying maybe. That way you're definitely in that window of 12 months to get your companies mat pay

To get SMP you need to have worked there before you got pregnant. Otherwise it's at their discretion but you should be able to get maternity allowance from the government. So if you're not pregnant yet you're good! Check their policy for any enhanced maternity pay as they set the rules for that.
