@Kaylynn group b strep
Four hours is the recommended but they can push it a bit quicker (my mother had to have this done with her youngest) if necessary. Also keep in mind that the transfer rate to baby even WITHOUT antibiotics is low, so if you don't get the full course baby is still unlikely to contract it (and even then it might not actually affect baby!). Lots of opportunities for everything to be fine. That said, I also tested positive so I understand the anxiety as I have it also
@Sareena ooh, I see. I'm sorry you're battling that. 😅
Yes just found out I have it too, so Random! But it’s not a big deal and try not to Stress out!
@Kaylynn I just tested for it and haven't heard results yet but like Brittany said it is something to be concerned with, but the antibiotics are to help reduce risks. There are always horror stories, but care teams always try the best to reduce chances of complications when possible. So, some (like me) if I do have it would prefer an induction. But I also am already scheduled for one at 39 +4 because of being over pregnancy and having to be induced with my last lol
My Ob said about 1 in 4 women have it, they want you to go in earlier than other delivery situations. Ideally start on the Ob transfusion at or before the water break but in true labor
With my oldest I went into labor before the test was done so was presumed positive. All that happened for me was they hung 2 bags of antibiotics during labor. I didn’t have any side affects
I had it with my first, I had antibiotics IV for an hour
Omg my Dr just told me I have this today. I was wondering the same thing.
Tested positive for my first. I'm allergic to penicillin, so I had to have a different antibiotic than usual. Tbh I don't even remember getting it. I know I had an IV and I'm sure they administered it. It just wasn't even on the forefront of my mind during labor.
What is GB's if you don't mind me asking?
